I am a sad video... (artsy Oto with 5cm + David Sylvian)

...because I'm not part of the post-AWA rush but I'm in the midst of it anyway

Good evening hippies,

This one's a sort of exploration into minimalism, especially when you realize that the audio source consists of vague ambient humming, noise, and half-sung poetry.

My theme for this video is "vivid bleakness", so that makes it a really slow (but hopefully artsy) video. The dynamic of it should be very different enough from drama/sentimental videos, though I'm afraid this one will seem pretty pale if you try to compare it to the better examples of those. If that's the case, well, I can always pull a "misunderstood underground artist!" card :P

But if slow and weird stuff is your thing, perhaps not.

PS - All the noise and stuttering that you see/hear in this is totally intentional.

Thanks to everyone who helped out with this one; feedback always appreciated!

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Hooray! Good job! Nice panduck you got there in your poster. ;)

Edit: So I just watched the final version, and I'm happy to report that I thought the first blip was a-okay now. :P

I'm trying to figure out what I like this video better than a few others you've released this year... I feel like it's because here you used a good deal of motion based synch as well as your usual texture based synch, and you know how much I like the former. But then, I can't be sure because it's all done in a subtle, right-at-the-level-of-consciousness manner (if I were distracted by someone talking in the next room while watching this, I would miss the connections and not enjoy this as much).

lulz yer artsy video reminds me of david firth cartoons

I always love that kind of weird styles and stuff, but really this was a kind of random source to use for that kind of a concept IMO. It's way too bright and shiny and happy for the entire poetic sedate mood of the audio, I mean there even are obvious creepy factors in the audio and the video source screams ROMANCE LOVE at me with full power - or so it seems to me at least. Your effects are always on-time but they seem to be not really integrated into the video, more like overlays.

Anyways, in general I love your concept but I would've enjoyed the video more had it been more altered to fit the song/or had it used a more gloomy source.

3.8/5.0 :amv:

Awesome clip.
The song was great. Didn't know this artist. Now I have to check this.
The mood was good, the editing was neat.

Great minimalist/experimental video.

Edit:
Really good video.
I like the effects in it, they fits really good. The Flow of the video is also great, good emotions.

Wow, that was instant win, my friend :D

I was really pulled into this by your original syncing and the mood in general. You captured the song just *perfectly* by your clip selection and syncing to those distorted sounds, not to leave the very appropriate effects unmentioned~ Yeah, it was deffinitely an experiment gone right 8-)

While the mood was just perfect, I still wasn't a big fan of your clip selection because there seemed to be from little to none of progression in it. I'm not a fan of that type of a thing, even if the song is otherwise captured perfectly.. But.. I can't think of a better choice for your video source. I just saw this movie recently (and damn it was depressing as hell) and this video totally surprised me because it created a mood very similar to what I was feeling when I had finished watching the movie 0.0

And what comes to the artsy side, yeah, it was what you could call "artsy". I was a little sceptical about your intentions on this video you explained in the video description, because videos with that kind of a concept tend to turn out to be quite pretentious and... kitschy? I wouldn't say the same about your video. Deffinitely not. This was a positive exception to that rule ;)

Awesome, awesome work, Otohiko! Instant keeper, even though I see myself growing somewhat bored with it in a few, thanks to the quite disposable clip selection.. But anyways, it goes to my favourites~

4.25/5

I just wish it was longer  Something like 5 minutes would have been perfect, imo~

Minion: masturbate into someones desk and giggle about it for the remaining 28 minutes
