Perhaps stuff similar to that one article Oto wrote about AMVing in other communities?
Not similar in the same vein, but of similar style. Stuff about studios, editing styles, etc.

Oh, and tutorials to do some really advanced trickery in your editing programs + stuff like AE would be cool. Or at least anything supplementary or useful.

mah $0.02

I just had a little fun idea...and it might not work for the newsletter....but maybe some kind of funny comic? Inside jokes, amusing things that happened to members at cons, w/e or something like that. It could be stick figures for all I care, as long as it's amusing. O.o Just a thought.

If this were implemented, I'd like to see this section cover AMVs by lesser-known editors. The AMVs you've suggested in the last few newsletters have been fine, but I've noticed that most of them are by better-known editors, and I'm always one for pimping the unknowns, so if I found time I'd be happy to do or help someone do this.

I also would like to see something like the "left behind of the month". An amv that didn´t really break through in all those threads or you could see some kind of potential or interessting aspect.
or perhaps DVD reviews like ones that compare the R1s to R2s or something? - quality wize what comes with them what doesnt... though that could get complicated)
Why for? I can already find them on a lot of sites.

I think more usefull would be a current or upcomeing bargain. DVD sales or for example: Pointing out that you can buy Vegas 6 for less than 100 bucks.

Oh no please no tutorials of effects. It would be just copied and a lot of vids would come along with the same stuff. Explaining a few basics would be better.

I'd like to read a detailed article by at least two people about community trends. Editing styles, fantypes, changes wrought by new anime, old habits that pop back up from seemingly nowhere, just something that looks at org members as a whole. It could be a regular week/monthly article if you go by years or narrow subtopics.

And preferable an article that isn't written entirely in sarcasm and poking fun at or complaining about certain groups. Maybe have members of the various subcommunities speak for themselves, or interview them. We get the "everyone sucks because ___" rants enough in the forum. I'd like to see a "everyone has something to contribute because ___" article. Something that looks at the individual members of the subgroups and then backs up to see how they affect the community as a whole.

Alright I went to far and speaked too general. Some german anime sites I know do DVD reviews. Ok here is a small google search with " 'Anime DVD' Reviews ":
http://www.animeondvd.com/reviews/index.php

*sigh* and there are still poping out those german sites.

my fault sry. I mistook something.

However! Let´s think about the actability. You need someone with the R1 and R2 (optimum) or at least 2 people. One with R1 and one with R2 and than they have to compare.
Doesn´t sound too good imo =/

I did mention supplementary stuff could be used instead.
Just little tips to help editing or whatever.

Yeah, I i like this one too. It'd be awesome to know how everyone's views and thoughts affect the Org on an individual level, as well as a collective one. So long as it's not sarcastic in tone, Imma agree with this.

Since I restarted up the newsletter, we haven't had anything like that . . . although, we've only had one article submitted, which I thought was pretty interesting :o

Oh, I know! It's just...any time this topic comes up you can pretty much count on it being coated in sarcasm and complaints. It would be interesting to see it approached in a non-judgmental, maybe even optimistic fashion. I can't see that happening in the forum where every cynic on the org can join in. The newsletter, now...there it might actually work.

Other ideas - how about a playful gossip section? Like recent happenings with a winking nod to familiar names/sites/cons/etc. That would be fun to read.

Is there a place in the newsletter for the AMV Previews too?

They would give another good content imo.
