Pay for it?

WTF!?

Oh wait, I suppose sooooooomeone is going to claim to be the honest upstanding pure as the driven snow type (probably has never reached orgasm watching "inappropriately" drawn anime either hehe).

I have two cool routes to anime.

Decent fan subs (gives profuse thanks to every fansubber in existence, you guys are great).

And

Buddies with more cash than brains thanks to good paying job (draftsman), no desire to leave parents house (even when nearly a fine example of a 40 year old virgin, thank god he's not a virgin), and a desire to own massive sums of anime (god guys that pick anime collections over being able to practice procreation regularly can be damn handy).

I've likely got access to more anime than you guys would believe, if I were to tell you, so I won't try to quantify it, odds are you would just dismiss it as not possible.

I have not paid for one lousy dvd myself though. Not yet.

As for applications, well I could likely find a few hundred bucks for apps faster than I could find the talent to make an amv, so I will stick to being part of the appreciative audience. Hey, audiences are important too eh :)

The only way I am out cash for my anime fix, is in paying for broadband internet. But I use that for everything else too.

Don't sweat it kids, eventually you'll have bigger things to worry about hehe :)

School just started back up, so it's back to wondering when my 13 year old son is going to realize EXACTLY what makes girls a lot of fun.
Anime, one of the few things about the internet that doesn't make me hate the internet.

I happen to like owning the dvds myself

1. much higher quality than fansubs, AND usually the subtitles are NOT hard encoded on to the video...

2. I don't have to whine and beg someone to let me borrow something from their stash :/

An appreciable number of us happen to own the DVDs we edit with. With the exception of my first video, which I don't usually like to talk about, all my editing has been done with DVDs I can turn around and see on my shelf.

As Jaddzia notes, it makes life easier.

Depends how deep you want to get into the hobby. I got about 100 disks and student licenses for all my software. Works better that way despite now being a student anymore.

Well, regarding the library...my local library is a bit short...they closest they have to anime is *cringes* Avatar....i believe it was made in America >.>

As for the video editing software, Magix sounds tempting but i won't plan to purchase any until i'm ready to go into AMVs.

It is expensive initially due to the cost of editing software/hardware.

However if you stick with using anime that you or your friends own that's techically a large cost you avoid. I only know of a few instances where people bought shows they didn't intend to in order to make a video.

well today i bought Magix Movie Edit Pro 11, for 30$.
I told my father i wouldn't open it until i got a general consensus of whether it is a good program or not.

We also saw Sony Vegas Movie Edit and Sony Vegas Movie Edit Platinum. It was about 80$ for each of those software, but i heard from others it was a professional tool, so i chose not to purchase it.

Then we saw Adobe Premiere After Effects, which i have no idea what it does compared to just "Adobe Premiere 6".

So right now, I'll wait until i'm "positive" on what software i want.
Any opinions? personal preference?

Sony "movie edit" sounds like the "dumbed down" market version of Sony Vegas (I'm used to it being called "Movie Studio" though)

After effects from what im told isnt good for editing,
you CAN edit in it, but its largely what its name implies after effects... its pretty much a program you can use with premiere to add effects to your videos

I personally like Vegas 6.0 its what i use... I attempted to try Premiere once and didnt like it... Magix seems like gewd stuff if you know how to use it properly...
