I have a question about setting up the editors against each other (so who is against who) - will that be done randomly? I know this probably never going to happen (because of the uneven amounts or maybe it'll be set-up that the best will meet in the finals), but it would certainly be cool to have people of the same regions against each other first and then move up to bigger regions. So let's say in the first region I have to go against a Dutch editor, then against a West-European editor, then another European editor, then one from outside Europe. The reason that would be cool is that when you put me up against Nio in the first round and I win that (it's an example hehe
), but loose the second round, let's say to Greggus, then I even though I did not came far I can still say that I'm the best AMV Iron Chef editor here in The Netherlands!
(this could also be applied to the different regions in the USA)
It would certainly be cool to have a USA vs. Europe (or Africa/Asia/whatever continent) best editor as a final round! (I just hope there will be an even amount of editors from each area)
Yeah, I can hope, can't I?
And ehh.. once the editor line-up has been confirmed of the first round (who is against who) then we certainly should make a betting pool with our predictions!
Sorry, I kinda got excited when I actually realized this could be the Official online World Championship AMV Iron Cheffing Tournament!

More then one DVD is not used. You choose the 6 DVD's, and then ONE out of the six DVD's, is randomly chosen to be the one that you use. (although in later rounds, there may be times when more then one DVD from your choices are going to be used).Streicher wrote:I too think, it makes it rather easy then more difficult using several volumes of the same series.
Also, it makes it much harder for the judges to tell if more then one DVD has been used.
And it makes the potential videos less interesting.
But for the first couple of rounds at least, only one from your list of DVD's is the one that you'll be using.
Douggie: It would just be way to hard to organize, and you're right, there most likely wouldn't be enough people from each region to be able to do that. Normally the editors are just randomly put into the brackets, and then you just have to win your way to the top of your bracket to get to the finals.

As it stands at the moment, I don't think I will put restrictions on listing multiple volumes of the same series. I understand peoples concerns behind this, but I've had so many people tell me that they just do not have a lot of anime to use. So while I do understand that it makes it easier for people to cheat, I have to put a lot of this tournament on the honor system as it is anyway.Kevmasterflashdeluxe wrote:I got a question though.
So all those DVDs have to be a different Anime or could one also chose like 3 or more Single DVD's of the same Anime?
The thing is, when you're making your list, you really WANT to have a variety of things on there, because you DON'T know what kind of song you're going to get. You could list vol. 1-6 of a really action oriented anime, and get a song best suited for light-hearted comedy/sentimental or something. Now, granted, I know that even with a varied list that can happen anyway, but at least you're not pigeonholing yourself from the very beginning. Make sense?
But as far as the rule goes, if enough people step forward to say that they really just do not agree with the rule, I may be willing to compromise and say you can put a max of 3 volumes from one series into your list.
I agree that this could introduce a certain amount of interestingness to the tournament (and would certainly make matches easier to schedule), it would mean me hand-placing certain people into the brackets, which is something I never do. I've always placed all of the competitors on one long list, then used a random number generator to assign each person their spot on the bracket, therefore eliminating the possibility of "playing favorites" or anything of that nature. Because this is a once-every-2-years event, there's obviously no "official ranking" that I can assign anybody like in sports-related tournaments.Douggie wrote:I have a question about setting up the editors against each other (so who is against who) - will that be done randomly? But, who knows. Maybe after this tournament is over, I'll hold a special country VS. country IC Tournament

Hehe, this is something that I actually encourage after Round 1 is announced. People take the bracket graphic and fill it in with who they expect will win each round, and of course the final tourney (and of course REMINDING PEOPLE THAT THIS IS ALL IN GOOD FUN AND SHOULDN'T BE TAKEN PERSONALLY IF PEOPLE CHOOSE SOMEBODY ELSE TO WIN :O!!!!)......Douggie wrote:And ehh.. once the editor line-up has been confirmed of the first round (who is against who) then we certainly should make a betting pool with our predictions!

So anyways, we officially have 52 people claiming interest in joining (assuming Vlad's comment meant that he was interested in joining and not just saying that the tournament looked interesting............. Please join Papa Vlad
