Have you ever purchased a song or anime based on an AMV?

Post by Adv1sor » Thu Aug 23, 2007 6:26 am

Have you ever purchased a song or anime based, at least in part, on an AMV?

I have bought many songs just to use them for AMVs. I have tried many anime after first seeing them in an AMV.

I wonder if the opposite may also be true?

Anime is somewhat too expensive for me just for AMV purposes :/ But I'm considering buying Place Promised In Our Early Days just so I can make an AMV off it.

Dunno about the music though.. But aerialesque's Azure introduced me to Tyler, and I'm considering whether I should buy their album or not.

Agreed - I have also tried out many animes after I've seen some good AMVs to it. Though there was many dissapointments... :?

Yes. Half my anime collection is because of AMVs - heck, the only reason I buy anime at all is so I have good quality to work with for my AMVs (not that I watch all that much anime to begin with).

And at least half the music I've bought in the last year (I don't buy individual songs; CDs only) has been directly influenced by AMVs I've seen. Maybe not in the sense that I heard a song I liked so I went out and bought that CD, but almost all the music I've been into in the last year I've liked at all because I heard similar music in an AMV somewhere along the way.

Hmmm, as often as I like a band or an anime from an AMV I can only recall one instance of buying an anime based on an AMV.

Giant Robo

That was thanks to Hsein's video using Liberali Fatali that I saw at AX almost a decade ago. And now Giant Robo is my 2nd favorite anime.

I have bought many albums due to hearing them on AMV's such as Let Go by Frou Frou and Andy Hunters CD's due to Galaxy Bounce and Clear Skies etc etc.

So yes...

I bought Blind Guardian's ANATO after watching Breeman's "Soujiro's Lost Soul". The only CD I bought thanx to AMV's.

As for anime, I buy anime only if it's good after I watch it fansubbed, not because of an amv.

Indeed. I see amvs. See the kind of footage in an anime and get all these ideas about it, which are usually nothing like it actually ends up being like (BECK for instance... I was expecting something totally diffrent, but still enjoyed it)..as for songs. I only actually purchase albums (<_<) If it's confirmed to be a really good one.. that i've already heard or whatever.
