What's a "Whole lot"

Post by BasharOfTheAges » Sun Aug 19, 2007 6:59 pm

Well, I inadvertently started a discussion on my journal and since I wanted to stem that tide I figure I’d just go out and post the question here.

How many downloads would you consider “a lot” on the ‘org? I mean a single video’s total downloads. I know we have star scale ratings but those are often skewed by people that register after a con and never leave stars and, you know, off-site hosting, but what number ranks in your head as a “whole bunch” as it were?

Now I know I’m breaking the taboo about giving a shit (because obviously caring about stuff like this means you aren’t passionate about your hobby or some such bullshit), but bear with me and answer if you don’t mind.

Very very few videos get more than a thousand downloads. I would think more than 5k downloads = whole lot

I just had one of my videos reach over a 1,000's downloads but that's after 3 years. My newest amv has 300 downloads in 6 months. Really in all honestly its hard to say. For me to get 100 downloads in a month is a lot.

Anyways getting back to your question. I consider a lot of downloads to be a 1,000 or more for one video. I mean not a lot of videos will see a 1,000 downloads. As for a whole lot 5,000 as Beowulf said.
No matter what, stay calm, stay cool and live life to the fullest.
Plus as Gene would say always go big in life.

It depends on how popular you are. For most of the people who's name you'd recognize from journal/forum/irc/whatever it's probably in the few hundred range. For the people who's name you'd recognize because they're good editors it's higher. For the people who's name you wouldn't recognize at all they're probably in shock if they break 100.

actually I think my most d/led video is 7mbs... I don't count the 135 d/ls I got in one day.... but I gotta laugh, even at 7mbs, 135 d/ls in one day is kinda' crazy o.0 (assuming a great majority of those is one person...)
