[Naruto AMV] 3 Libras - A chibi!Sasuke angstfest

Post by shafted_artist » Thu Aug 16, 2007 4:30 pm

This is the second AMV I've ever created and, for what it is, I'm quite proud of it :D. I created it using Windows Movie Maker and started this project back in April. In an on again/off again process, I decided to can what I originally had due to it's choppy transistions and bad clipping, but kept it as a reference for my finished product. I'm very happy with the finished product. Comments and helpful critisim would be lovely :D.

Enjoy!
April ^_~

I downloaded this just because nobody else probably will...
People HATE WMVs, WMM, Windows, Microsoft, Streaming Sites, The Internet, etc.

so I'll be honest, and not flame...

this video had the following problems :
1. Boring - Choose Scenes that are entertaining, although you seemed to choose good scenes for what you were going for
2. Song - boring and too long
3. Pace - Again slow and boring
4. Lip Flap - Lip Sync is a long and strenuous process, avoid it or do it right... (I avoid it)
5. Quality - FFS buy a program like Sony Vegas ($524.86 is the cheapest last time I checked)
6. Length - it is too f-ing long
7. Story - I don't see why two guys walking by each other needs half the amv, but then again I'm not a big fan of naruto...
8. Scene Selection - Good, but choose more scenes and ones that are more interesting
9. Rewatchability - it's a Naruto AMV... :S
10. Naruto - Don't use it or people will call you a narutard and you'll NEVER be accepted as an AMV Master...

2/5

there's guides for a reason, buddy...

Re: Critique

Post by shafted_artist » Fri Aug 17, 2007 12:41 am

Well, if that's not a bit of a damper... but okay. I'll make a note not to use wmv. in the future.

Thank you for taking your time out to critique my video, but on a whole I find I tend to disagree on a few things (and that's with my feelings as the amv creator aside). Still, there are a few things I will take note of in the future, so thank you.

It would be nice to be taken seriously, but unforunately I like what I like. If people can't take my skills seriously (once I get good at this in anycase) because I'm a 'Narutard' then it's their loss.

There very well might be, but I've yet to come across any (again, I'm very new at this. I just jumped in and started tinkering around; no prior knowledge). Is being a Naruto fan one of the big no-no's I wonder?

Again, even though you appear to be neither a fan of the anime or song of choice (and this could very well be good in judging my skills from an 'outsider's' perspective) thank you for taking your time out to look at my video and critique it.

wmv and Naruto are both perfectly fine, as long as they are used well. Downloading now, will edit with comments.

Edit:
What I liked about this video- good story, rarely used scenes.
What I disliked- Lip-flap, scenes too long, bad transitions and cuts, scenes were too slow during fast-paced parts of the song. Overall more than just your naruto vs someone video, but still needs tighter editing, seemed like you cut general parts that you wanted and threw them onto the timeline.
3/5 (which includes +1 for not showing Naruto at all).

I'm a bit suspicious about this but 3 Libras is one of my favourite songs, EVER, so I'll give it a shot.

EDIT:
Plah, that wasn't too exciting an experience..

First of all, try to sync to something. This desperately needed it. There were only hints of some kind of lyrical sync, but that's pretty much it.. Your clip-selection had some potential though. This deffinitely looks like a pure character profile and it may serve its purposes for the written lyrics, but there was a horrible disconnection between the clips and the song :/

2/5 That was a waste of A Perfect Circle's emotional music :(

The editing machine means nothing. As long as the editor himself has supirior skills, the machine and anime have nothing to do with the overall outcome.

I'm afraid I can't vouch for the "superior skills" considering the fact I'm quite new at this.

Here's to hoping I haven't done anything to dampen your love for the song then. I hope you enjoy my second attempt at amv making :).

I'm sure it wasn't a personal attack :).
