I got a few honest reviews for my last drama so with this one I really tried to take peoples tips and improve, so im curious to see how I did. The audio is from a bands demo so theres some cracking towards the end. Sorry if that turns you off to watching it, just figured it be better to warn ahead of time. If you have time to check it out and tell me what you thought id appreciate it. Thanks for reading :)

I didn't like Grave of the Fireflies that much, really, but I downloaded this just out of interest because I have never seen an AMV done to that anime before. I've never heard of the band, but the song wasn't bad, actually.

On the video itself, I found it a bit boring, really. Maybe it's just that I'm not a fan of the anime, or the band, but I think this could have been more emotional than it was. Your clip selection is ok, but it didn't really give enough credit for the powerful emotional affect the movie had. Maybe if it was done in a more chronological order, it would have been better?

I liked those effects you used on a few parts of your vid. Those bright bars, I mean. They hit the beats nicely and looked quite nice  However, your syncing was decent. Although sometimes I couldn't see whther you were trying to sync to the lyrics or the beats, which was distracting. But overall, nice sync :D

Thank you for the honest and detialed review. Im sorry I bored you . The bars are synced to the beats while the lyrics are syned to the scenes. Or at least thats what I was going for. Thank you for watching, and letting me know what you thought. I apreciate it :)

That was AWESOME. Definitely your best yet. This video carried more emotion than Grave of the Fireflies itself did (but then again, I hated that anime, so I may be a little biased). I hated those white lines, though. I think you should have timed them better and faded them out, or just left them out completely. Also, you slowed down some of the clips to an extent where it just looked choppy and plain bad.

Other than that though, great storytelling, emotional video...you get a 4/5 and a  from me ;)

Hmm. Downloaded, and I must say that I throughouly enjoyed this video. I wasn't a huge fan of some of the fx, especially the slow motion and the white lines, but the emotional impact and the storytelling was simply amazing. Though I didn't like GOTF,I didn't hate it either. The show was kind of meh for me, but this amv was pretty good!

(I mean besides the fact that I friggen hate GoF... it's depressing, but it's depressing cuz the guy's such a friggen retard, It's not depressing, imo, because of any emotional content)

Thanks for all your support :) The lines were an attempt to try and get more sync in the vid. Since that was one of the major points I kept getting on my last one. But your right, I should have played with them a bit more to get them to come off better. Thanks again :)

Thanks, im glad you liked it. I did slow alot of these clips down when I probablly should have just put stills in instead. Thank you for watching and letting me know

Hey Burn,

Nice to see you taking-on a vid that's outside the norm. GOTF is not an easy anime to watch let alone edit to music and it's not for everyone.

I picked this anime up a few years ago without any warning of the story (other than what was written on the back of the box). I think that's why it hit me hard emotionally and was so memorable - I wasn't expecting such a wrenching story.

I disagree with the characterization that Seita was a "retard". I thought his role was pretty realistic considering he was an orphaned teenager from a proud military family trying to care for his little sister. Life isn't always knowing what to do and how to do it. However, I will say the English dub was horrible.

Anyway, your AMV kindled that memory. I thought the music really complemented the scene selections and it's cool to see you experimenting with special effects. The fades, scene timing, and the slow motion (honestly, I replayed the AMV 3 times to find the choppiness and couldn't see it on my machine) really pulled me in. I was indifferent about the bars. They were timed well so they fit with the music but they could have just as well been left out without affecting the AMV.

All in all, I hope you keep making more of these challenging AMVs. They're a nice break from the popular vids that multiply like rabbits on this site.

Thank you very much for watching, im glad you liked it. The bars I put in for more sync, since that was a main drawback on my last drama. I liked GOTF because its very real. The story itself might have been made up, although it proboblly did happen many times over. Having it based in ww2 and events everyone knows about, but personalizing the story so its just about the struggles of one family was a smart idea to really show people just what it was like. I watched it in japanese the only time I ever herd the eng. dub was after ripping I listended to the opening segment. I thought Seitas voice was done well, but since I never watched the full movie in english I cant really say.. Thanks again for watching, and letting me know :)
