lol... omg O.o
what are you basing that off of... i mean seriously you have some of the better editors on this site praising you and giving you advice in this thread. and saying that they enjoied it despite the quality you rendered it in (which to me doesnt look that bad.. could be better but could be worse) AND they are encouraging you to compress in a higher quality... its only a few more steps and i think that they would like you to succeed here cause the video obviously shows a lot of promise...

please dont tell me youre basing it off of "star rating" because a 3.9 is a rather good score O.o especially for this site O: (thats like top 10% high)

also you CANT delete the video because then it would go against this site's mission statement "to list all the amvs ever made" no matter if they are good or bad...
let's face it-- there's always something that someone is unhappy with. Like we've all been spoiled by Euphoria, Tainted Donuts, Dueling Videos: Under Ice, etc etc... to the point where anything less is apparently unacceptable.
did you know that all of those videos you mentioned also get "bad reviews" every now and again no matter where you go or what you do SOMEONE WILL ALWAYS NOT LIKE WHAT YOU ARE DOING that is just life buddy... if you dont like that then perhaps you shouldnt be doing ANYTHING.. and i seriously mean anything, not just amving..

heres what you want to do to get a better quality video:

1. export uncompressed from premeire (from what i know premeire exporting with compression = fail)
2. compress your Video and your Audio
or 2. compress with zarxgui (or both O.o and decide which you like better?)

you will need to get the amv app - its a handy and useful tool... and free and available on this site.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
theres plenty of time to learn to get better, and i think that a lot of the people around here would rather see people improve, than to just get all angsty and give up...
imho you show a lot of promise... check out those guides and see if you can get a higher quality compression
and dont let the "negative feedback" get you down O.o because everyone even the "top amvs" get negative feedback... (Euphoria has gotten tons of all 1 ops O.o)
I appreciate the good feedback, and honestly, I haven't even glanced at the star ratings for this video yet.
Honestly, I'm happy with the quality of the compressed version, the people I've personally shown the video to are happy with the quality, and that's enough for me. I've gone through several runs of exporting the video through SUPER(C), and I've gotten crap audio output each time (regardless of the fact that I set it to top-notch output each time), and crappy visual ghosting/ artifacting throughout the entire video. I'm really just sick of trying to appease a few editors out there by spending hours trying to compress the thing. Sorry.
I guess I just really shouldn't upload here unless I want to get bashed by pretentious, elitist types who believe hi-res godlike output makes the video.
And you will shed tears of scarlet.
what
Seriously, you've only got one comment that could be counted as negative, and even then it was a suggestion more than anything, and you go into all this drama?
How about you consider the fact that, rather than the people being elitist by suggesting video quality improvements, you're being lazy and silly for not taking their suggestions? The methods JaddziaDax gave you are both easier (once you spend the few minutes it takes to understand them) and give great visual improvements, which will make your video more enjoyable to watch, simple as that. There's no 'elite quality' or some great arcane greatness involved here, just simple methods to use 2007-level technology for a 2007 video that viewers in 2007 (and maybe after) will watch and enjoy.
Your not wanting to comply is not a sign of our elitism. It's a sign of your egoism, since you don't seem to care enough about your viewers to give them an up-to-date (forget elite!) encode.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
you know all these people are telling you and showing you guides on how do get said "God like output" and increase the quality of your videos.
Many of the options put forward do not take hours at a time.
Judging from the majority of positive feedback, and you harping on just one suggestion for improvement, indicates to me that you arn't upset at any sort of elitism.
because the so called elitists are also prasing the majority of the video.
What do you want to hear? That this is the greatest video of all time? And there is nothing at all wrong with it? That men Cower and Women swoon at the very mention of your name? that your very aura of editing prowess can cure cancer and turn water into wine? that your very breath could make flowers bloom or make crops whither? That your gaze can kill a man? that you are some form of god among men and everyone should be bowing down before the mighty and powerful Dirk Stabben of Persia? and if not, the thousand nations of the persian armies will decend upon us?
And much SPARTAAA Will ensue?
well that ain't going to happen
There is something wrong with EVERYTHING nothing can be perfect.
I didn't like euphoria for instance.
so why not focus on what you did do correctly and take the advice for encoding for next time, instead of complaining that people are being fair and kind when discussing your video in a forum ment to elicit such responses.
Wow. Just...wow. JaddziaDax, Otohiko, and Fall_Child all have excellent points, and I don't have much more to add to that, other than to point out that the people who left you feedback in this thread (including myself) were giving you their honest opinions. We weren't trying to be elitist, but good quality is something that's kind of expected in videos these days since it's not that hard to get, and a lot people really do enjoy the video more when the visual quality is good.
My biggest point is though, when I take the time to give someone detailed, honest (and constructive) feedback on their video, I don't really enjoy getting attacked by that person for my viewpoint, and I don't appreciate that person acting like a child that has been denied a toy just because I gave both the good and bad points that I saw. Especially when overall the feedback was positive. It's mind boggling. And somehow I don't think I'm alone in this.
I've had a lot of people rip on me in the forums for technical mistakes, and generally they were a lot less polite than the posters in this thread. :roll:
Dirk, the fact that they are not criticising the content of your video is a big compliment. If it sucked, no-one would care about the codec. Why the hell would you want to delete your videos ? They are good. People enjoy watching them. People want to see them presented in the best possible way.
Well, you see, that's just the problem. I've tried with MULTIPLE codecs by this point, with MULTIPLE output 'experiments' as it were, and not one even managed to match the quality of the WMV I've presented.
As for someone's comment about deleting the video due to the "site's policies"... I'll find a way.
Anyone whining about the video quality should check out y0utube. Now that's a hive of crap video compression right there, but at least the community is-- for the most part-- more friendly and less nit-picky.
Just encode as loseless (Lagarith or Huffyuv) then use a program (Preferably Zarx264gui or MP4box to encode to mp4). If you've used high quality stuff to edit, and you follow these instructions, the video should look good too :)
Which, after watching your video, isn't that a terrible thing to harp about. The editing's good, you just need to fix up the quality.
Ignorance is bliss. Knowledge is power
That's all I have to say.
O: and wow... shana is awsome so i got it.. and i liked it.. a lot.. and then i was gonna go complain that the quality was the only thing that bothered me really, and then i go through your thread and all this drama.. O:
and yes i have seen lots of videos with quality a lot worse than yours... a LOT worse.. but still you should really listen to the comments you're getting.. the better quality you can make ur vid the better it is right =P
like i like watching this on fullscreen.. and on my 17" some parts are way too fuzzy to be able to see clearly.. and if i watched this on my laptop, on which even most high res vids look like shit, i don't think i'd be able to make most of it out at all... i don;t think a lot of this is even a compression problem, shana fansubs kinda suck to begin with... (usedvds=P) but yea you really should try the other compression methods outside of premiere.. cause it's a really nicely edited video.. kinda makes me wanna finish watching shana like right now actually lol but i wish i was able to see it more clearly, so that i could enjoy it more... so instead of gettin so defensive over every little negative comment why don't you try an mp4 and see how that works?
