Something I worked on for two weeks back at the beginning of April. This is the second video I've used only After Effects on, but be aware that it is still rather simple - I mainly utilized the zoom and motion functions aside from the run-of-the-mill fades.

Beta-testers:

Otohiko
Bakadeshi
CrackTheSky
Unlimited Rice
angelx03
Kalium

Available encodes:
Rich content, anamorphic 480p60 H.264 MKV (on Local)
Low-quality XviD/ASP encode
High Definition 720p60 H.264 encode, [hopefully] compatible with KiSS 1600 hardware players

Err.. what? Here I was expecting some great motion effects but all you did was cropped pan and scan..

5/10 stuff..

Nothing flashy, but who says it needs to be? I liked it, but my computer dies on the 720p. I'll say one thing, 60 frames per second is scary ! I'm like, OH SHIT slow down! Anyways, not bad ^_^!

3.5/5

ummm .. what version of win-rar did you use, or is there a password being used ?

*edit * ... ya know, if you learn how to use a "swf encoder" you can do the same thing in under a 10meg file ^_^ ... it played just fine in my 4 year old KISS DP-450.

Did you only make this so you could gloat with the resolution and high FPS? Probably not, but overall it was over-simplified and got repetitive really fast. You could have done something else than just pan scans around the screen, even if they did hit the lyrics at times.

I think that 30FPS would have been sufficient as well, since the movement of the pictures was very linear and straightforward. There isn't a world of difference between 30 and 60 FPS, if the movement on the screen is what you used.

heh, I still remember that song from the Donnie Darko OST. I really liked what you did there, the only thing that bothered me was that you left in the whole japanese letters. I mean translated it would've been annoying to read and like that the japanese is just in the way, probably should've taken the time to get all of the text out of the images.

As for the whole critisism going on about it being too simple, I think anything more would've definately completely destroyed the entire plot development and atmosphere the song is giving out. Just one last question: did you manipulate the mood of the doujin through the song or was this supposed to be more like an exact representation of the source?

I'm gonna watch it again, I had this stupid OSD enabled that made the green text, and a bunch of my codecs were corrupted, hopefully it will work right this time... If not have to churn out another couple thousand >_>

and ffs plz do not use mega upload, rapidshare is much better...

One part was that I did want to test the limits of what my computer could do when working in HD - plus whenever I get my hands on the proper hardware to play back that encode in real-time, I wanted it to be the sharpest-looking it could be, and since most of the source would easily accommodate 720p, I just went for it. With the FPS, I actually edited it at 24fps so I could conserve whatever resources I had, and then adjusted everything to 60 for export - since it was only stills I didn't have to worry about problems arising. Using 60 rather than 30 was again tied back to the decision for later HD viewing - since 720p60 is valid I figured I'd make the most of it. There was also a part of me that assumed that the jagged motion in some of the pans in the 24fps render wouldn't be completely gone even at 30fps.

As for the concept, though, I'd had it long before I'd even thought about doing stuff in HD.

It was something I did debate with myself on, but I just find it too jarring to have blank text balloons when it isn't possible to easily remove the balloon entirely, so I at least tried to minimize it by retaining the Japanese.

Not entirely either way. It's not totally an exact representation, but there's not too much I had to do to make the source fit with the music, either.

I prefer Rapidshare, but it can't store things over 100megs without using split archives, and I wanted to be consistent.
