Like I said, I don't care where you put me, as long as it wouldn't have me editing in August with the current clump of deadlines coming up. But when you do come up with an order, are you going to let us know either what # we are and/or an approximate time when we'd be starting our segment? (Like even by pm or something so it stays a surprise. Just so we know where we are on the list so we can try and plan everything else accordingly.) And can I request to have Nerdstrudel after me because he said I was being difficult?

That's something I've been considering - keeping the final order a secret so no one can communicate beforehand and everything would be totally and completely improv. If you request to be on a specific area of the list (or, in your case, NOT a specific area), you can be confident that that's where you'll be. If I decide to keep the final list totally hidden, and you want a PM that states about when you'll be editing, I have no qualms in telling you.wurpess wrote:But when you do come up with an order, are you going to let us know either what # we are and/or an approximate time when we'd be starting our segment?
But how does everyone feel about me keeping the list a secret? Or is that an unnecessary precaution? If I post the list for everyone to see, can I trust everyone NOT to communicate with the people above and below them about the audio source, etc?
Err...how would you know what footage to rip, when you don't even know what song you'll be using? Because each audio segment is going to be pretty short, I wouldn't imagine the ripping/clipping would cut into anyone's editing time by a significant enough amount to prevent you finishing your track in time, but if that IS a problem, we can work that out on a case-by-case basis.NerdStrudel wrote:Also pming us to let us know when we will be.. So we can start ripping footage early.. so that doesn't cut into our edit time -_-

It's unnecessary if for no other reason that if I did communicate what audio source I was passing on I'd lie about it. So let them prepare for a techno remix of Howard Deans scream or whatever it is I'll tell them, that isn't what they're going to actually get so it doesn't matter. I'm sure I'm not the only one that'd do this. Especially now that I've just given everyone the idea.CrackTheSky wrote:But how does everyone feel about me keeping the list a secret? That's actually what I meant. Keeping the list a secret and just sending each person a pm of what # they are on the list and maybe an approximate time frame of when they'd be editing. Nothing more so it keeps the element of surprise and people don't conspire before then. But they'd still know approximately when they'd be editing so they can juggle anything else they're working on to make sure they have time to do this. Another idea to help people with scheduling is maybe posting here when each editor finishes so we know if things are running behind, ahead of, or on schedule. (You don't even have to give their names. You could just give their #.) But that's just a random idea and not really necessary. *^_^*CrackTheSky wrote: If I decide to keep the final list totally hidden, and you want a PM that states about when you'll be editing, I have no qualms in telling you.
And I think even if I did tell people exactly what I was going to be giving them, I doubt many people would know what I was talking about, or possibly even be able to find it to prelisten to it. And besides, where's the fun in making people edit with obscure audio if they already know what it is and are prepared for it? But I still think the list should be a secret so people can't use their knowledge of who the next person is as a factor for choosing their audio.

Actually I disagree on this bit. I have two audio sources selected. One is an ummm unusual source that I'm certain some members of this MEP can do justice to while others would just fuck it all up. The second audio bit is in case the person following me is one of those who can't deal with really unusual audio. I don't particularly care or want to know who precedes me but I definately want to know who comes after me.wurpess wrote:But I still think the list should be a secret so people can't use their knowledge of who the next person is as a factor for choosing their audio.
Perhaps this could be on a per-editor basis though. Most people don't know who follows them but some could ask and be told. Maybe have them explain why they want to know to cracker and he can decide. My desire to know is actually for the good of the project, cracker has heard my primary audio and should know what I mean when I say some editors would just fuck it up. If someone wanted to just to try and select the best thing to screw over the next person then cracker can decline to tell them.
