MaiHime - Shizuru & Natsuki - A Storybook

Post by jen-chan » Mon Jul 16, 2007 4:27 am

*coughs and rubs the back of head nervously*

Hullo Everyone...

So I know that some of the most frightening words in the English language are "lookie!!" "it's" "my" "first" "amv!", especially when those words are stringed together in that order, but please bear with me. Although it's my first time creating, I've been around amvs for a few years now, helping to administer the amv contest for the local con, so, hopefully I've been able to avoid some of the more obvious newbie pitfalls... -_-;;

Please find for your perusal: Shizuru & Natsuki - A Storybook.

This AMV highlights the relationship between Fujino Shizuru and Kuga Natsuki from MaiHime, and as such, is highly yuri-friendly.

I realize that there's quite a few Shiznat videos out there already, so, I was sensitive to beating-the-dead-horse-syndrome, and this AMV does not use any visuals from the actual series itself, but is made from doujinshi art instead.

Hope you enjoy!

Cheers,

jen-chan

:lol:
I'll download anyway even thought you used that scary "it's my first amv" phrase :wink:

I'm supprised this hasn't had more attention 'cause it's got;
YURI
that was a damn fine effort for a first/second/third (and all the way up to 5th vid) vid... you missed a few scene changes but in general the sync was quite good :up:
the white fash was annoying and i think the coloured in eyes worked well, it would have been in to have a little more colour like that to break up the black and white.
mmm the garbage matte was to jaggered tho.
over all tho nice effort

Thanks for the kind words, Autraya! :) I thought about coloring in more things, but decided against it, 'cause I thought the single screen with any color at all would have more impact. Perhaps I'll make a colored version someday, where I can fix up the rough spots in the sync too. ^_^

*laugh* I wonder if I should have advertised it with a 'Get'cher Hot Yuri Action here!' tagline or something. =P

Your claims to having a non-newbish first video intrigue me, and Autraya's comments are encouraging...

Finally got around to watching it. My initial thoughts are that it's pretty cool, but the beat sync was off a lot of the time, especially when you did those white flashes. They were too fast for the drums. Still though, I actually quite enjoyed this video - it had a unique style to it - and this is indeed much better than what most people put out their first time. Quality kinda sucked though...:(

Thanks so much for taking a look! ^_^

I realize I do need to work on my timing on the flashes. It distressed me a little how I couldn't get windows movie maker to "drag" a clip to exactly 0.50 sec for some reason (I could only get 0.47 and 0.53), but I think I've just got to learn to play with it more.

My apologies about the quality; I'm not sure if there's very much I could do to fix that though, as some of the original fan art was tiny...?

Cheers,

ahhh that's actually because the program it's self isn't single frame accurate.
I didn't even realise this was a WMM vid... extra kudos for you then :wink:
