Categories, ey... let's just say anything and everything (like, I'm hoping, most cons, I've yet to see the torrent of entries people seem to like to send out last minute, so I don't know what kinds of videos we'll be needing most of yet).
I'll hopefully have the FTP system up soon enough, but that's not a guarantee as I seem to have lost my access privelages for the time being ^_^;

Hmm... I swear I thought I posted this here earlier today already, but maybe my earlier post was deleted. If it was, I'm sorry, but this is actually an important thing in relation to the competition.
Anyway, there's an FTP upload service that I've opened up for those desperate in some way to send their video to Manifest. It has its conditions but essentially, I'm putting this as a last resort method rather than the preferred method of submitting to us. More information is said here:

Right, there's a bit of a change in the way AMVs are handled this year. Due to the number of videos that are entered into Manifest, we will be employing a finalist system this year where only the top rated videos by the judges are shown on the Saturday Fan Vote screening session.
However, because I understand the frustration that occurs when you realise your video didn't make it to the Saturday screening, I have re-instated the Friday screening session for the videos that didn't make it into the finals. Just because your video wasn't shown on Saturday doesn't mean it wasn't any good. In fact, it was a hard decision last year having to choose which videos ended up getting shown because many of them didn't make it only by the smallest of margins.
Hence we're bringing in a new award! This is another Fan vote award but given to the videos that are screened on Friday.
I hope to see you all there on Friday!

Ah... but that's where the rub is. In 2 hours, you know you can put yourself through maximum level throughout all that time and come up with something which would be competetive to your opponent's.
But with 24 hours, the mind games come into play. You don't know how much time or effort your opponents are putting into their video, and hence, you don't have any gauge as to how much you're willing to put into your video as well. Average sleep time for the people who competed last year were 3-4 hours in that 24 hours, so other factors like sleep depravation and fatigue come in to play too. The fact that your up against 5 or more other editors at the same time is also a factor as it becomes harder to predict what kinds of videos you'll end up competing with. Against all odds, a drama/action video won against a whole load of comedy videos last year... so there's a few things to think about
