AX 2008 hotels

Post by Adv1sor » Mon Jul 09, 2007 8:21 am

Can anyone tell me if there are any hotels connected to the LA Convention Center? The closest I have found seems to be a Holliday Inn across from the Staple Center.

I don't know about specific hotel locations, but one of the major problems with the LACC location is that there aren't any nearby hotels.

Yeah, the LACC doesn't have an attached hotel. There is apparently a project in the works to create local hotels, but those aren't due until 2009-2010.

By that time, our children will be going to cons.

The nearest hotel is about half a mile away

The nearest decent hotel is even further.

I'm waiting to see what AX books for con hotels before acting on anything. Worse comes to worse I'll just attend the day of the AMV contest and save the rest of my cash and just go to Otakon for once.

I heard the decent hotels were at least 8 miles away. Which is practically about where I had to stay last time when they over booked the f***ing Westin. I wasn't seriously disappointed in the con itself, but I really hated how they made us walk all the way around, to get from the exit of the exibit hall to the entrance of the stinking convention. That is all, god I hope it's in Anahiem.

Well, being an old guy, I do like to go back to my room during the day for a break. No way I'm doing this one. I would like to go one year but I guess I'll wait until they move to a location with hotels a little closer in, like Otakon does.

I went to the Car show in November 2007 and parked at an off site parking which i had to walk to the convention center. The walk wasn't bad and I passed by two hotels on the way there. A smaller non-chain one and then the holiday inn. The area is pretty nice, nicer than I thought before going there. If you stay at the holiday inn or the other one you wouldn't have a long walk at all, even if you are used to staying at an attached hotel. As far as other hotels, I did not see any driving around the immediate area so I assume they are pretty far in which you would need a shuttle or to drive. I'm only going for a day this year so I'm not worrying about hotels but if I was, I'd stay at Holiday Inn.

The Holiday Inn and the Hotel Figueroa were the two closest. My coworkers and I drove by like a couple of weeks ago. I dunno how to get to their parking lots though.

Barring some sort of disaster, AX is at LACC to stay, and for quite a while. I don't see it returning to ACC or LBCC anytime soon unless attendance drops sharply a couple years.

Not yet, but come 2009/2010 things should improve to something more akin to LBCC as far as hotel and restaurant proximity goes. I think I recall hearing something somewhere about there being buses chartered for running to and from the hotels, kinda like Comic-Con, but don't quote me.

All the people moan and groan about how things are supposedly going to be at LACC, but seriously it's hardly any worse than Comic-Con, and it'll get better in a year or two.
