I'm fine with that, my screwing over someone it means that I'm too lazy to edit my own version of a song and I'd actually like to see how someone else tackles it..
But yes I am willing to edit anything, maybe it might open some doors for me to move into another genre and work with that. I have done trance, metal and old 80's hair metal before, id like to get a bigger range of editing music.

This project sounds pretty cool, as long as people keep in mind you want to give the next person a song you'd like to see edited rather than just screwing each other over with absurd audio. I have plenty of obscure music I could cut 30 seconds out of that would make amazing source, because it sounds good
, and I'd love to see edited.
I'll keep on eye on this...

Yeah, I should make a point of saying that the main purpose of this project would NOT be to see how ridiculous you can get with musical sources. For me, I have the same mindset as you, kisanzi - I'd want people to choose sources that they'd like to see edited for reasons other than watching the person below them squirm.kisanzi wrote:This project sounds pretty cool, as long as people keep in mind you want to give the next person a song you'd like to see edited rather than just screwing each other over with absurd audio.
That's kinda what I'm afraid of, and frankly I don't know how I could prevent it from becoming like that. A lot of it would probably have to do with how all the tracks would finally be mixed together, and based on the nature of the project I don't know of any good way to mix the tracks. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated in this regard.*inverse* wrote:I think I'd participate in something like this, as long as it's not like an AMV Hell/WTF kinda thing.

I've been trying to see what 30secs is like and as for the average i'd say that it's too short of a time period and that it would instantly seem like AMV Hell because the viewer can't really adjust to an audio source until it's already changed to a different one.CrackTheSky wrote:That's kinda what I'm afraid of, and frankly I don't know how I could prevent it from becoming like that. And since the purpose is supposed to see something edited that's not just a prank it would mostly suck for any emotional tracks (which would be a problem for me specifically because there's not much emotion to be put in 30seconds that have to be faded in and out from a black screen) I'd suggest longer audio tracks between 45secs and 1min or even more (maybe even like an IC where the editor could decide on how much of the audio timeline he wants to spent on in the video).
I agree on how there's not really a way to mix that many different audio sources together though so the black screen thing would still work best in that case IMO.

If you're saying that the person whose turn it is to edit gets to choose how much they want to edit, that COULD work...my only fear is that based on what else you said, people would choose short tracks and all your fears about 30 seconds not being enough would be realized.Ingow wrote:(maybe even like an IC where the editor could decide on how much of the audio timeline he wants to spent on in the video).
My other concern is that, because of how this project works, much more than 30 seconds and it's going to start taking people too long to edit their tracks. And since quite a few people seem interested, at 10-20 editors in the project this is going to take a while to complete already with a one-week limit per track. Editors cannot start editing until the editor before them finishes, to prevent people from giving someone a crap song and then dropping themselves. The way this is set up, editors have to edit something before they can pass on their audio. More than one week or a week and a half per track and the time put into this'll add up quite a bit. I don't want to make people edit a 45-60 second track in a week if that's just something they can't do.
Basically, I need to find a nice balance, and 30 seconds seems pretty plausible, but I understand your concerns so I'll give it some thought.

Err...I also x2 that...hmm..what to do...maybe just make it 45 seconds a piece, that seems a PERFECT balance to me, not too long, not too short.CrackTheSky wrote:If you're saying that the person whose turn it is to edit gets to choose how much they want to edit, that COULD work...my only fear is that based on what else you said, people would choose short tracks and all your fears about 30 seconds not being enough would be realized.Ingow wrote:(maybe even like an IC where the editor could decide on how much of the audio timeline he wants to spent on in the video).
