One thing that concerns me:
If someone else is picking the song and the person doing the editing has no say in the matter.... What if they dont have an anime that correlates well with it? They have to drop out? I think the person editing has the right to ask for a different song if they have nothing that would work well with it.
One last thing that concerns me the most is how your going to mix this... With so many wide variety kinds of music possible... a seamless mix with smooth transitions might be impossible.
I'm interested but as it stands, there isnt enough clarity yet in this idea.

"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

I think that that should be the challenge here, not the problem. Everything can 'fit' to everything.Eva-Fan wrote:If someone else is picking the song and the person doing the editing has no say in the matter.... I am kind of for broadening the available/possible sources to use though, meaning we should be able to use non-anime footage if it would be the most fitting for our given audio source (shouldn't be a problem for the MEP to still be orgable since most part would still turn out to be anime). Also the technical details shouldn't be too strict because that'd just restrict us to only being able to use what anime we got on DVD which is most of the time a lot less than what we could use as source overall.

A challenge AND a chance to be a dick to other editors? 0.o Sounds perfect for the org.
I know what you mean about having more time when school starts, this summer's a bitch. I can see this is happening though, and I'll play along (sounds fun), but only if it doesn't start for a couple of months.
Do it!

Yeah, that's great guys, and I don't want to dissuade you from wanting to join, but you seem to be missing the point here. In order to choose a song for someone else, you have to edit something yourself - so make sure you're ready to edit absolutely anything. If your sole purpose for joining is to screw over someone else, or just to give someone a really obscure track, do not join.CerebralAssamite wrote:x3 I have a nice idea on how to make someone's life hell.. id definetly be interestedIngow wrote:x2, I'd join toocode_chrono wrote:I would join this in a heartbeat. I agree with Ingow. If you get creative enough, you can make anything fit to any musical source, and anyway that's the risk you'd take by joining. I'm not sure about live-action - there'd have to be a limit to how many people could do that, since I couldn't have everyone copping out and using LA if their track doesn't suit them.Ingow wrote:I think that that should be the challenge here, not the problem. I suppose, though, if someone absolutely thinks they cannot make any anime they have fit with a musical source, they could take a mulligan. But we'll cross that bridge when we come to it, and if you want to sign up it's much better that you have a wide range of anime to use so this WON'T happen.
I have considered this, and I agree with the fact that it probably won't be a seamless mix. But due to the nature of the project, I don't think every song HAS to flow into the next. I think there could be silent segments in between each video to introduce the editor, song choice, and who chose the song to set up each video. Or I could have each editor create an intro for their video, etc.Eva-Fan wrote:One last thing that concerns me the most is how your going to mix this... :/ I don't know about this. When all is said and done I want every source to be DVD-quality; if this means taking downloaded footage and filtering it enough so that I can't tell the difference, fine, but I will absolutely not allow fansubs, low-res crap...I care about the visual quality and I strongly, STRONGLY urge you to rip straight from DVDs.Ingow wrote:Also the technical details shouldn't be too strict because that'd just restrict us to only being able to use what anime we got on DVD which is most of the time a lot less than what we could use as source overall.
