Improv MEP [Interest Gauge]
Ok, I got this idea while I was in the shower today. First, let me say that if this garners enough interest for me to warrant actually starting it up and making it an official MEP, it probably won't be for a month or two at least, since I have a fuckton of AMV stuff to do right now regarding cons and another MEP I'm currently heading, plus work and the fact that I don't have a lot of time to myself (ironically, I should be able to do a LOT more once school starts).
Anyway, this is the idea:
It's a bit of a game. First, I'd have between 10-15 people sign up. Once I have an editor list, I'd assign each person a random number, with me at the top. So I'd be number one. Following me? I would then choose 30 seconds of any song I have access to (ANY song at ALL), and give that segment to person number two. That person would then have a week or two to edit a video to the audio segment I give them. They cannot say no, they cannot request a different song. Once they're done, they give me a lossless (or compressed, I might have everyone give me their lossless stuff at the end, I don't know yet) copy of the video they've put together. I look at it, I decide whether or not to keep it. The purpose of me making this kind of decision would be to keep stuff that clearly lacks any sort of effort out; this could be discussed more though, as I'm open to any suggestions you may have.
Once person number two is done with their segment, they choose a 30-second cut from a song of their choice and give it to person number three, and so on. The last person on the list would give me an audio segment of their choice and I'd edit to it, and then I'd compile all the videos together into a final MEP for distribution.
The catch should be obvious by now: If you like the way this sounds and are thinking that you'd like to join if I choose to coordinate it, you have to understand that you have no control whatsoever over your audio source, and you absolutely cannot drop out if you don't like what you're handed. You have to be willing to edit to ANYthing - rap, metal, classical...whatever the person before you on the list chooses, that is what you must use, no exceptions. Due to the nature of this project, you should expect that some pretty weird and obscure musical genres are going to pop up, and if it so happens you get handed one of those and you don't like it...too bad, that's what you signed up for.
And of course, I'd be looking for no particular editing style - effects-heavy, effectsless, whatever you can or can't do, is fine by me. Just so long as you can make something fit with the musical source you're handed, that's all I care about.
I'm very interested to hear your thoughts - love it, hate it, tell me what you think. If you have any ideas to improve on this one, feel free to throw them out there. And, of course, if you'd be interested in joining, I'd love to know.
Just make sure that if you really want to join this, you will stick with it. This is an MEP I'd be very strict about in that sense - I'll make you feel very guilty if you dip out after saying you won't.

No song is impossible to edit with. It's just a matter of you being clever enough to do it. That's what this project is aboutcode_chrono wrote:Meh. Kind of, but you don't have editors constantly tried to screw each other over in amv telephone. I see editors giving each other nearly impossible songs to edit with.
