Not to be an ass, but a 3.14/5 seems like a good score for this.

Some of the clips were pretty god awful, and it killed the mood. I did laugh, but the whole video became less and less... good (or funny) as time went on. I just didn't see a consistent quality throughout. I know you had trouble with compression, but some of the quality (especially any stills that were used) issues were blaring and painful to watch. I bet that some parts were just low quality to begin with. (see: tissues) Also, your credits were cut off in places, others it took up two lines where it could have fit on one. It just overall looked like an unfinished product. Oh well, I suppose you were working towards a deadline.

I have to agree, the haruhi concert was hardcore, and probably my favorite segment.

Also, could you have plastered your name in some additional places? I think I might forget in the next couple of months who made the video. I wouldn't want that.

pretty much fail, I don't see any comedic value, quality was definitely not slick, but not that I didn't expect anything else :o

3.3/10

Probably because the decimal is an invention of the base-10 number system, and the roman numerical system wasn't a system that had places... They did kinda have fractions though.

Also - denied large file upload for a video over 18 minutes long? That doesn't sound right...

with all the corn references in the first post i was actually looking for it... sadly there was no corn... :(

things I noticed:

1. it could have used some quality control, either by cutting clips that had bad quality or manually cleaning up every clip yourself.

truthfully I don't think you can blame some of the quality on "mp4" or its codecs, especially due to the fact some of the clips had a really good quality while other clips had a very poor quality... some avisynth precleaning could have helped some of those issues...

mpeg2 tends to "hide" video flaws while x.264 tends to show you the actual quality of the video

I would have rejected such clips as the sailor moon one which had particles over it... and told them to make it again this time using a not divx codec to edit with.. or to resubmit with out those particles, or the kyo kara mahou clip with all the interlacing @_@ I would have had them deinterlace their video or worked on deinterlacing it myself.. I also would have cut the excel piece with all the macroblocking and told them to make it again without the issues..

As a MEP coordinator you shouldn't be afraid to work with your editors on an individual basis to improve the quality of their clips..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2. I donno this just may be me, but when running a mep you don't really want to take all the credit for yourself... in the beginning and in the end credits it was all "a deuceloosely production" now yes you did coordinate it, and I do think mep coordinators should get the whole "I directed this" deal going on, and they should be pointed out as the coordinator/creator/director or whatever, but I donno it kinda felt that you were taking more credit than the rest of your collaborators
Maybe its because "my mep" is the holiday mep... and I'm like in the middle of "the spirit of giving" or some bull, but give your collaborators the same amount of credit and tack on "oh yea and directed by me" somewhere.. since everyone probably put in just as much effort as you as the coordinator did..
if you were trying to disassociate from Zarx's Hell Videos I suppose thats one way to do it though... but at the same time it kinda seemed like you wanted yours to kinda blend in with them.. so, I'm not sure of what you were going for?
another way to disassociate from Zarx's hell vids is to come up with a new "production company" that includes all of your collaborators.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

3. transitions (I'm sure people will tell me that I have no room to talk when it comes to transitions... ;>.>) the audio you used for the bars didn't seem right, perhaps because most people are used to hearing the test sound tones that go with it.. though I could see that getting annoying... fast.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
4. last thing: end credits... always always check and recheck ending credits... some of the words were cut off O.o I had that problem myself with the Christmas mep... and I ended up fixing little things here and there @_@
the logos were cute, but the audio on some of them could have faded in and faded out, and it was a cool way to include some of your collaborators... might have been cool to make those logos just a bit bigger so that they are easier to see..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

as for the clips themselves, most were amusing, only one really made me giggle out loud... but i had a bit of a smile on my face while watching...

if you do another mep I'd probably not call it anything to do with "AMV Hell" as the name is practically copyrighted by Zarx ;>.>

No offense but that sucked :?

I couldn't even watch the four minutes that I did. That's as long as I could watch. 4 minutes

1/5

:?

Um even the aspect ratios where off. or a lot of what was used was sssssttttrrrrrrreeeeeeettttttttttcccccccccchhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeddddddddddd.

get the picture? but anyway, quality was.....bad. If you are going to make a MEP have a set ratio, frame rate, make people have good quality. Most of what I saw made me feel like I was on drugs, and I don't think that's what you were going for. Comedy is unfortunately the pickiest thing to have with viewers because what is funny to some people is boring to others. but you seem like you need a little bit of work with this. I honestly just watched it because someone I know is in it :shock:

but I thought I give some advice so you don't get the feeling like I'm flaming. I'm being serious when I said the above. Um, yeah and that transition didn't really work with me. This had some potential in some areas, in others it just doesn't really work with me because the audio isn't funny and is unappealing to me. Another thing that you have to be REALLY picky with if you are shooting for comedy.

Another thing....don't base a video off of something that's been done to death and isn't going to poke with a forty foot stick unless you can do something that even dewelopers would be jealous of. Otherwise it's just gonna look like a rehash and won't really appeal to many people. Needless to say AMV Hell type videos are not really the way to go.....

I dunno :/ That was.....something. I kinda want those four minutes back :(
