Vegas 7.0: Which Version To Buy?

Post by Kero777 » Sat Jun 09, 2007 2:44 pm

I'm going to be buying Sony Vegas 7.0 when I buy a new computer, but there is more than one version of 7.0. I don't think I really need the extra DVD export support (or whatever it is they are offering with DVD), but most seem to come with it. If I'm remembering correctly, Sony Vegas 6.0 is around $150. When I was looking up prices for Vegas 7, some were $600. Could anyone recommend the best one for AMV editing, or reply with which Vegas 7 you use? Thanks!

I'd just get 6.0 because there really isnt much of a difference between the two

x2

Most of the changes between 6.0 and 7.0 hardly affect what you can do as an AMV editor. You can see them all listed right hurr...hardly worth the $400+ difference.

Lol. In this thread yo want to spent $2500....$3000 for a computer, while a $1500...$2000 computer will give you a decent system for editing, and here you are whining about $450 price difference between Vegas 6 and 7? You are kidding, right? I wonder from what this attitude comes, hardware may cost what it wants, but software should be as cheap as possible.

i think its because hardware you get physical items where a program is not quite so physically "large"

people usually go all @_@ when they hear the price of a CD (even if its a computer program).. i think its a pretty common mentality O.o

Also, you'd need to steal hardware (i.e. physically deprive someone of the product and revenue) if you didn't want to pay, but you need only pirate software (deprive only of revenue - thus different).

Vegas 7 should have been called 6.5, there isn't really much new. If you still want the latest version, I'd advise you to wait for v8 which should be out later this year and be fully Vista-compatible.

I think the only difference between the two, is that 7 is a bit easier [access wise] to navigate around...but yeah, the it isn't really worth paying an extra $400 for it, if i didn't already have 7, i would wait for v8.

Lol, yeah I didn't mean for it to sound like that. *Hits self in head* I just didn't think it would be THAT much of a difference in price. $200 I'd pay, $50 more than what I paid, but from what I've read from everyone here so far is that it's not worth the much pricier upgrade. I saw a tutorial for 7.0 and I loved the 3D masking effects, which doesn't seem to be possible in 6.0...

Oh, and If $1,500-$2,000 will get me what I need for a computer instead of $2,500-$3,000 you bet I will chose it instead. :D Any computer suggestions while I'm still on the subject? *Goes to check the other thread for replies*
