yeah not really careing what the pros and other people say, Div-x and X-vid can be used in wmm/wmm2 as long as you get rid of the AC3 audio or the audio period, get rid of your giant X-vid everything wonderful codec pack, and that stupid FFDshow, i can do all files except h264... exsept on my laptop, vista will open all h264/x264/mvk you name it... it even has a save option now for "HDwidecreen X-box 360" at a woppin 7.2mps lol

i used wmm alot in the past and still do with live footage of stupid stuff like familys and sk8'n
Because you are good at amv's dosent meen you can't get yer arse kicked.

lossless compression is recommended for your source, but... i don't care if people use xvid or divx. true it is more error-prone and lossy, but if it's good enough for them, let them have a ball.

my point is, there is no RIGHT WAY to make amvs. use whatever works. 10-15 years ago, most amv editors didn't have huge anime dvd collections and were using 2-deck vcrs. they didn't have Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides or dvd decrypter. they just used whatever they had in front of them, some of their own ingenuity, and made the best with what they had. they weren't as clean looking or precisely timed as today's videos, but they still entertained the hell out of the creators and fans at that time, and still do today.

That said, when it stops working randomly and all of your project files become corrupt, don't come crying to us for help.

I might get torn to shreds for saying this, but you don't really have to use Huffy =\ When it comes to Windows Movie Maker there really isn't any way to preserve the purdy quality that you get with lossless...

There's another codec called "Intel Indeo 4.5" that you can re-encode your footage with in Virtual Dub Mod. The file sizes are very very small compared to the lossless and it still keeps the quality pretty nice. Just about the same quality as you'll get when you render an AVI from WMM (minus the interlacing)

I encoded my footage that I used for Soundless Screams, Esplodey-ness, and Give Me Wings in Intel Indeo 4.5, and they didn't come out bad looking >_>

Now Imma go get some coffee since I just woke up @_@

Isn't that exactly what I've been saying this entire time? It everything but WMM, it matters, in WMM the quality comes out EXACTLY the same.
