ERROR: Link is not valid: 200 - OK

Post by OmegaIceman » Sat Jun 02, 2007 8:56 pm

Hi I'm new here. I read all the FAQs and guides but don't know what I'm doing wrong...
I'm trying to make a new video and I'm on step 4, making a link. I'm trying to link to my video on You Tube but it tells me this:
ERROR: Link is not valid: 200 - OK

Common Problems:
* Protocal required: http://, https://, ftp://
* No closing / at the end of a directory:
http://www.site.com/video/directory should be http://www.site.com/video/directory/
* You just typed the name in wrong. :-)

I'm guessing that I'm not supposed to be linking to that site here... am I right?

Yeah. We have a wordfilter if you even write the name of that site here. If you don't want to host your video here, just put the link in the vid description. Or you can use your own website or filesharing sites for a downloadable copy on an indirect link.

ah thanks man.. I just happened to have read about this actually in another topic.
Is it actually ok to link to it though? Sounds like they really don't like it :\

I haven't seen any rules about putting links in journals or vid descriptions. If you're worried, upload the video to a file sharing program instead - www.savefile.com is good if the video is under 60mbs, or www.sendspace.com if it's bigger than that.

Or you can use the org's local server. The only drawback of that is once you upload it here, you can't take it back down.

And also that:
- users who download the video must eventually give it a Star Scale rating
- even if you decide to provide other links as well, users MUST get the local version in order to leave opinions
