This video would have been much different without your continued support. Thanks a lot for your comments, you know I always appreciate what you have to say.aerialesque wrote:It's good to finally see this finished. You did a really nice job portraying the characters' emotions, so even though I haven't watched the series, I still felt like I was able to connect with them. Seriously thou despite the sources not matching up on their own they seem to blend pretty decent ones edited. I haven't seen the show yet and I'm guessing your editing somewhat pushed it forward allot. The drum rolls kind of killed it for me, and I mean you still have to learn allot on the technical side. But for now it gets things across and thats pretty much all that counts.
7.5/10 =)
Happy now? :p Thanks WC!WC Annihilus wrote:Zomg it's up? =O

I totally agree with that first chorus not being paced well, and pacing is something I'll be sure to work with more in the future. I'm glad you liked that bridge, because that's the part I changed a lot from my betas. Thanks Szwagier, you know I love hearing what you have to say!Szwagier wrote:First Acemans "Daydreamer", now this vid :O I really need to watch Koi Kaze, before I'll know whole series from the amvs :S
The vid was pretty nice, but it seemed like you forsaken a part of the flow for the sake of more typical "slow romantic approuch". For example in 01:16 - 01:31 the music changes drastically - it's much stronger and more split into fragments, yet your vid is almost the same as in more peaceful part before (only the running provided some more dynamics to that, but this was just a second).
Similar thing can be said about scene changing - it seemed a bit off at many points, more synched to the time of lyrics, thant to actual instruments. A good example may be 01:00, where you waited for the word "champaigne" to end, instead of starting to change the scene.
Now more about the good parts - I absoluitely love how you handled bridge starting at 02:57. The idea of splitting screen to show both of them = good. The effect starting at 03:05 - another neat thing, since you handled both the melody and the background. Masks at 03:13 to make the scene of them sleeping together more subtle - very moody. Generally I must say, that I like the second part of the video (from around 02:20- end) better, since it's more dynamic and more dramatic which fits the music perfectly.
Still, even with all the technical drawbacks, this vid was quite good romantic vid with well done mood, so It's more on a plus side and I like it.
3.9/5

Just personal preference, really; you captured the mood of your concept very well, and even if I feel like it's been done a lot before you certainly did it right. 4/5, nice work.

Well, unless my initial reaction is correct and the girl is way too young Rolling Eyes
I think I can see where the criticism is coming from, and here's what I'd say in terms of analysis:
I think the storytelling in this video is very good, the editing also being rather good; where the problem might lie is the pacing. I think the relatively static footage and the beat-heavy music are often at a bit of a clash - made more obvious by the fact that at times, you did edit is to the point where the pacing worked well - only to lapse again into relatively static scenes while the music pounded on. You did manage to make it work in many places with the masks, and you varied the masking effects quite a bit (for which you deserve big points on effort), but the flipside of variety also happens to be inconsistency, and the video suffered a little from that.
Is it good though? Oh certainly! Something quite different [from my view] footage-wise is very welcome, too
I'm gonna let this one sit and go through the watching-cycle a few times, and then try to op it.

Yay for more VNS vids! Good work on this one. I like the changes you made from the Acen version and it feels alot more complete now. IMHO, I think your pacing and sync was perfect. Yes the song has calm and loud dynamics, but you chose to sync them with the characters and turmoil of the show rather than chaotic effects or flashes. I guess it works better for those who've actually seen Koi Kaze, so I think it's done perfectly. Nice work!

Hmm, I hadn't replied to this yet? Shame on me!
This is good stuff, Dani... err, *inverse*. No, wait. Reigna. Yeah, good stuff, Reigna. However, there's a huge difference in quality between the first half and the second half, in terms of creativity, pacing and storytelling. And for me, the separation between the 2 halves is really the first and the second story, each with it's romantic interest, which I guess makes the second half a bit longer.
I didn't see the point of the first girl, really, story wise. It just kinda seemed like filler, and things only get moving when underage girl comes in. Then the song gets really awesome, and you follow it perfectly, making for a really moving finish. Where the editing in the first half really didn't try much, the second half was just plain riveting stuff. Nothing incredibly fancy, but just creative, and it surprises me every time.
Otherwise, as someone mentioned above, alot of useless crossfades. This is something I see alot of pro editors doing, and it's not right. You have to think about whether a cut or a crossfade is better everytime, and not just blindly go the crossfade route. Especially since your crossfades are so short here, they might as well be cuts anyway, which would give the video alot more edge in the calmer parts.
Wow, looks like I have alot to say about this. Might leave an op later, I guess
Good emotion though

Thanks for watching the vid!
Their ages are more like 15/27, and The Graduate is win. Thanks!
Thanks Nancy!

Once again, thanks for all the comments everyone!
Douggiiieeee! That's really interesting what you're saying about the cuts. I'll have to remember that for my next video for sure. I'm glad you liked the video! You should like, release yours now.Douggie wrote:Hey, I liked the vid, the song was nice and I really liked your scene selection! Now I've seen this AMV I want to see the series! For some reason I liked the drumroll where the guy is kicking the chair - looks kinda cool!
But there are some thing I'd like to comment on. First of all there's this gradient you use on the side to make it look like a fade effect around 2:10 and 3:16. Well, that looks kinds artificial (if that was your intent, then skip this comment), you can see the daimond-shape of the gradient in it. You can actually just use normal straight gradients starting from the side and use different layers with different opacities to create a less "artificial" look.
Secondly, what would make this AMV probably 2 times better is if you didn't use (short) fades/dissolves all the time instead of using cuts. For me (but well, that's me), dissolves have a general meaning/purpose and unless there are some artistic overlay combines with dissolves to make it look pretty, it means (for me and probably a lot of people) a passing of time, a break in continuity, a showing of similarity (when the two scenes are matched properly) and all that kinda stuff. But in your case it made me feel like a was watching a photo slide show from the start on (until I got used to it). Even if you just lost your fades in the intense parts, it would show a tremendous difference and give the viewer a more intense feeling, because the cuts would feel much "harder" than they usually would - even if the pace/length of your scenes is just as long as usual (because the viewer was more or less "used to" the fades, like when you stayed out in snowy weather would make drinking semi-hot tea burn your mouth more than usual - if that makes sense, because I'm kinda bad in analogies).
But maybe I'm the weird one as I'm the only one who commented you on that! Please correct me if I'm wrong and there's some meaning to it I didn't see! All in all, still a nice vid and keep the good stuff coming!

Yay no more squares \o/ Glad you like the cleaned up version, and thanks for all your help!Kristyrat wrote:O: The squares are gone \o/

The song choice worked well, but it has too much strong beats, which you avoided to synch to build the story better, but yeah I'm very picky with that stuff so I will just shut up XD.
Quality was cool too Very Happy .

My file was damaged at 3:45 so I couldn´t finsih it. I don´t want to be or sound mean, but: I was happy that I didn´t had to force my self until the end of the video.
Already at 02:00 I wanted to turn it off, because it just gave me nothing at all and of course no entertaining.

I´m dissapointed and ´ll delete the video. Not only because it´s damaged. .-.
