That may be, but I could've sworn I read that Sadamoto was writing (and drawing, duh) this one. And on an inteview he said that he hadn't written the ending.

but the manga script was influenced by the anime, but yes based off of the original script

the comments about the series ending not being written yet was by Anno while he was still writing the original script on July 17, 1995... i only know this because i have the special edition manga (volume 1) where he says this and it is dated like that.

Because if it was edited by Anno to improve it, I wouldn't say the original script has any power, just because it was the first draft. But if it was edited for TV like time allowed or something, I guess that'd be a different story.

As for the Rei/albinism arguement. The manga clearly says it's a possible explanation. In the end, it's all up to the viewer/reader to draw his own conclusions. There are no definite answers.

Seeing as Rei was a genetically-engineered clone of Yui, it is possible the recessive albino traits were expressed because the genetic engineering involved lacked the necessary inclusion of dominant genes. If you think about it, Kaoru Nagisa also has red eyes and a lighter hair color. There's also the argument that it's just part of the physical traits of being part Angel. However, only the AT Fields of Rei and Kaoru are Angel, not their physical forms.

no, the AT field doesn't change depending on what ur made of. everyone has an AT field, Rei and Kaoru are indeed part angel, therefore they have a better mastery of their AT fields, but they don't have "Angel" A.T. fields as you said, and actually their bodies can't even be said to be human, thnx to Anno for giving us the REAL mindfuck that is The End of Evangelion, we see Rei deciding she wants to help ikari (shinji) and then she regenerates her lost arm (the one she lost as she let go of her mastered A.T. field gradually as to become one with gendo)

not to mention the fact that she can control her body's composition (let's gendo put his adam hand into her abdomen... and beyond)
this all probably wouldn't be a factor and we could have just gone through life acknowledging rei and kaoru for having human bodies, but NOOOOO, people had to fuck with Anno for a new ending, and so he fucks with us and gives us the same ending, only with a bitter tasting final scene and people losing their own AT fields.

but we did get some kick-ass eva action out of it!
