Delete the footage after you make the video? You're technically still paying to use it (rental fee). But yeah, it IS bootlegging...just not as bad...I don't think....Zarxrax wrote:Um... ripping DVDs that you rent *IS* bootlegging
Wow...I feel like I would never be thinking this but....

If you have parents to borrow money from...maybe saving up money or cutting back is just fine.
For me though, I bought lots of anime (vhs tapes cause anime dvds were not really around as much) for my collection before I moved out and went to college.
But I paid for eveything by myself.
So that meant everything ended up getting sold in the long run
Now...I only have my memories...
Well...um....perhaps I can take pride in the fact I did it all on my own?
:/
Nah, I miss my anime.

That was my point, leathel. I make hm... like $600 a month, half of that is rent, another 200 or so to groceries and transportation... you know, stuff you need to survive.
There's a little saved up at the end, but that I'm saving for things like going to cons and uh, furniture. ahem.
Anyway, yeah. I'm not going to complain, 'cause I know a lot of people would actually be whiny if they were in your position. But you seem cool about it.

I don't know about some people here, but the poor college kid thing is getting played out beyond belief. I love how there always seems to be a contest about who is the poorest kid on the block, like if you can afford to buy DVD's you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth. When I used to work for a BioMedical company I would drop $200-300 in a weekend. Now that I am a broke jobless fool, I wait for another good job to come along that will allow me to continue my hobby. For now I will just have to keep watching my way through all the DVD's I have collected until now.
