The Pillows - Good Dreams
Picked this up the other night, been listening to it and my other major jrock purchase (AKFG's 'Soruba') a lot lately.
Anyway, the Pillows. If you've only really gotten into their stuff from FLCL, I highly recommend picking up this album, either off the 'net or when the new convention season begins. The best tracks would have to be Walkin' On The Spiral, その未来は今 (the single released right before the album), and Good Dreams. They're also announcing a new tour, although most of the tickets have probably been snapped up by the fanclub by now. Definately a strong showing for a band's 15th anniversary...

What's the single album called? Every record store in Tokyo has pretty much all their albums on display... there was also a tribute album released a month and a half ago ('Synchronized Rockers'), but it's a tall order at 3000Y.AMVfreak wrote:Woohoo!
I actually got their single album not so long ago,
and I can definitely agree with dokool that その未来は今 was an awesome track.
Can't *wait* to see them in concert...

Well the single album was released on 10/6
and is called その未来は今
I guess they shoved in the same song into Good Dreams, it appears.
As for Synchronized Rockers, man that album was awesome shtuff.

I'll wait till it shows up in recycle stores here. I mean, I want to get it, but 3000Y is a wee bit much.AMVfreak wrote: As for Synchronized Rockers, man that album was awesome shtuff.

Of course, nothing's in stone until I physically recieve my ticket, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Err, anyway, my brother's been showing me some non-FLCL-related Pillows material lately, and I gotta say, I was impressed. I'd really like to own some of their work eventually.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

One thing to remember is that they didn't record the songs just for FLCL, they were all songs that were on previous albums. One could consider the FLCL soundtrack a 'Best Of.'Otohiko wrote:Err, anyway, my brother's been showing me some non-FLCL-related Pillows material lately, and I gotta say, I was impressed. Oh, and the band members are 35 (Sawao Yamanaka, vox+g), 40 (Shinichiro Sato, d), and 42 (Yoshiaki Manabe, g).
This basically means that they formed in their 20s. Not unreasonable at all.
