I saw the first episode recently. I feel that this has potential since while the first episode didn't really give too much, it did leave off at an interesting cliffhanger. Also the main girl Matsuri (which I have to say, the color pallet and her outfit is damn appealing; absolute territory FTW) might hinted as a

vampire.
Though the main male lead, Yorito, does obsess a lot about taking pictures of the sky. On the plus side, he is in good terms with his other girl friends so he not a total loser. :o

This series sola has attractive character designs from the original designer of Da Capo. Combined with solid animation from Nomad (of Rozen Maiden fame), this might turn out to be one of the more promising romantic drama series for this season. And just to note, this is an ORIGINAL production so sola is actually not based on any past media works (in fact there will be an upcoming PC game and manga based on this series). Hell, the one who created sola is Naoki Hisaya who mostly known as the main writer for the infamous visual novel from Key, Kanon!

I'm definitely keeping my eyes peeled on this! :P

Ok, I am officially hooked! Matsuri is AWESOME in episode 2! The dialog exchanges between her and Yorito shows off some development and chemistry they have (I really laughed out loud when Matsuri tried to cook Yorito dinner; you don't have to be a chef to see what the hell she did wrong  ). In a way, the dynamics between those two reminded me of Shiki and Arcueid in Tsukihime (which, by the way, is a totally badass series). Also, it seems like
Spoiler :
Matsuri can't stand the sunlight or else she'll turn to dust. Nonetheless, she still yearns to see the blue skies. She also has the the ability to decay anything she touches at her own will.

I'm getting a feeling that gothic loli girl (who by the way looks like she stepped right out of Rozen Maiden) is the same being as Matsuri since she always hides inside a box. I wonder what's the deal with that guy with the sword that's chasing Matsuri.

Hmmm, Aono, that token sick sister of Yorito in the hospital for who knows how long, definitely has a pretty strong relationship since she refused to eat unless Yorito brought her something. Though I'm getting a feeling Yorito is losing interest in visiting Aono unless Mana nags on him.

Her name means Festival? Strange name....

Also, I haven't seen the series, but after your explanation, I think the title of the series is supposed to be Sora(which means Sky). But I haven't seen any of the series at all, or seen how the title is actually written.

pretty animation in this. I'm just now noticing this thread, though I have seen episode1 a while now. I reserve impressions for until I see more, but its somewhat entrigueing enough to keep watching. Kinda like Noin was in the beginning, and I ended up loving that series. I shall probably have more to say in a few episodes.

oh and the title is actually written using english letters as Sola. It could just be an intentional play off the word Sora for sky. Japanese have made mistakes in official naming's before with mixing up the R and L in romanji though, so it still is a possibility.

Ooooo, awkwardness arises in episode 3! :o
Spoiler :
Mana is suspicious of Yorito's recent activities so she took it upon herself to visit his place. Awkwardness ensues.

She then told him to go to the store to buy seasoning ingredients. While he is away, she went snooping around, and behold she has met Matsuri! And then Yorito came back and found those two! More awkwardness ensues!

They did come into an understanding in the end though.
Of course this episode was made enjoyable due to some slick dialouge exchanges among the characters. Matsuri is like totally....ImageImageImage

And Mana is cool too, I guess.

I thought she handled it rather cool compared to most anime girls in similar situation ;p Although I agree, Matsuri is awesome, I rather like her personality.
