New Trailer: Gundam Wing vs X-Men

Post by DJ_Izumi » Sun Mar 19, 2006 7:18 pm

This will be part of a 3 phase trillogy to all X-men movies. The rest of the info is in the video's listing so there isn't much else to say. :)

Yes, because those two go SO well together. It makes PERFECT sense! Why didn't I see it before?!

Mixing two random non-related in any way shape or form series, and THROWING THEM TOGETHER AND HITTING BLEND! BY GEORGE! YOU'RE A GENIUS!

Or a dolt. I can't tell which.

Oh wait....

Christ, use something like Hellboy trailer and hellsing clips. Something RELATED instead of throwing random shit together. It's like you were taking a dump and said "WHOA! TWO STORIES WITH NOTHING TO DO WITH EACH OTHER! THEY'LL MESH PERFECTLY!"

Congratz, you've again lowered the bar and caused me to have one less hope for the future.

So, you're saying I should do something obvious, like another Ghost In The Shell/Matrix trailer? ;P

I'm saying use something slightly related, not something you threw together when you had to much to drink.

When you just take two things and fling them together, its pointless. Doesn't have to be glaringly obvious, but It's not hard to take a small thread that connects two things and piece them together. It can be done. It's not even necissiarly all that hard.

..the fuck..when'd this blatently homosexual new logo show up..

The five boys make a decent cast of Mutants. Zechs with his metal mask works as Magneto plus he goes all psycho more than once, not to mention the metal mask +1. Doctor J is good for Processor X.

The Gundams are constantly saving the world. For the second movie there's even the Oz attack on Relena's school to take the role the government attack on Professor X's school in the movie.

Maybe it's just not obvious enough for you. :)

No, it's just another boring blend of blah blah blah meets blah blah blah.

You're not Wuwu, for the love of christ, please stop trying.

For the record, the X-men save the world that fears/loathes them. The Gundams did it out of revolutionary causes. They were one group, not two seperate groups. The earth hated them, but the gundams weren't doing anything for the earth's greater goodness.

Physical appearance does not make a 'connection' between the characters. The metal mask and magnetos helmet doesn't exactly work.

Must you always cast a character as someone of the opposite gender in your trailers?

Anyway, I kind of agree that there is not much of a connection with the video and audio source. This video reminded me of Z2 Trailer which matched up Gundam Seed to X-Men 2. For that video, I mentioned that the anime didn't exactly work to portray the story of X-Men, since the mutants seemed to be ordinary people. When thinking about X-Men and mutants, I think about characters with supernatural abilities that go beyond what a human is capable of. There are some anime that can show this, but I don't think Gundam is one of them. At least that Gundam Seed trailer had a plot connection where coordinators, like mutants, were hated by normal humans.

Anyway, the video worked in matching up the sound effects, music, and dialogue of the trailer, but not so much in matching the X-Men story.

Note to WarpedElements: Sometimes it doesn’t matter if the audio and video sources are completely unrelated. What matters is if a decent connection can be made from one to the other. Maybe this video might not be the best example, but even Wuwu combined sources that were completely unrelated. I don’t remember Evangelion or Love Hina having any similarities to Spider-Man, but he was able to use the footage to make a decent connection to the movie.
Final Doom "Amazing things will happen here soon."

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Substance "Everyone knows that it's a dangerous substance."

Must you always complain about it? ^_^; Besides, Quatre is totally a girl. XD

The trailer itself, even the real one, has very little story as is. I'm considdering doing it agian to the other X-Men trailer but I might finish the trillogy first.

As long as you give me something to complain about. Besides, I don't always complain about it. I missed commenting on Jurassic Eva.

Anyway, I know the trailer doesn't mention much of the story, but I wasn't referring to the actual plot of the movie, but more of the whole concept of X-Men and the other stage of human evolution. Had I not already been familiar with X-Men and understood what a mutant was, then this trailer might have worked for me.

Side note, I did like the casting for Professor X and Magneto.
