new Memories amv --- 1984

Post by JD_Lord1 » Sun Jul 10, 2005 3:29 pm

Recently I finished my second video "1984" based on Cannon Fodder, the third part of Memories. My video relates Cannon Fodder to George Orwell's novel 1984 which if you have not read, you probably should.

The book shows a futuristic view of military propaganda and the lives of people who dont know who they are at war with. The book of course had a lot more to it but I don't want to give it away. I tried to capture the intenseness of the book in this video and the crazy lives that people had, just like the lives of the people in Cannon Fodder.

This is only my second amv and my first with after effects, but I think I did a good job at getting my point across and not in a cheesy way, either by effects or ideas. I put a lot of time and effort into the video and I think it paid off. It is pretty short but I think the song I chose (36 by System of a Down) went great with both the movie and the idea of the book. I enjoyed making this video and I enjoy watching it. I hope you do too. Please leave me an opinion regardless.

For your second AMV I think you did a great job with effects and syncronization. However, I do think it's a little short (not that I'd want that crazy song to go on too much longer), but I think to effectively link 1984 with Cannon Fodder you'd need to expand the video. I get the connection due to your explanation, but wouldn't have seen it otherwise. Also, while the white flashes and marching are fun, they don't really create a feeling in the viewer . . . its more like a fun, short, lil amv. For something as serious as 1984 and Cannon Fodder, you might need to touch on a storyline more. All in all though, I really really enjoy watching it!

Just my two cents
