Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Here's my other AWA Pro video. Didn't get great reception in the review thread, but I'm actually really fond of it right now. Maybe you'll like it too, I dunno :shrug:

I thought that I was a "Gainax fan," but can I really be one if I've never seen this anime? Whatever, this has me hyped to watch it now. This is beautiful, dazzling, as pretty of a no-effects video as I've ever seen. I really loved the flow of this, it was upbeat and had a really visceral charge to it. This kind of action is well-served by the fun, celebratory feel of the song and I liked the lip sync parts in the middle. Those felt weirdly static compared to the rest of the video, which I suppose was inevitable given the action scenes that it's sandwiched between...I'm on the fence about whether or not that's something that ought to have been broken up with some other clips or effects but part of me just kind of likes it as it is, both as a contrast to the rest of the video and as a break from what's become the usual way editors treat those scenes.

This was a sexy AMV.

I tried really hard not to post in this thread and your Fair and Square thread, the reason being that I felt that I didn't have anything meaningful to add to the conversation and I thought adding some low effort remark would be too disrespectful for an editor that I secretly admire :ying: . But someone shilled very hard for me to post here, believe it or not there are actually CrackTheSky shills out there :shock:.

Given that it's current year and that we just recently elected a meme President;
I think it's appropriate to start off with some dope member berries
In my opinion the best video you ever made is clearly this one
the song fits so perfectly with the concept of the video even thought it's just some shitty christian song about wanting to fuck jesus :rofl:
it's so well edited even for it's time, the only downside is that your source isn't very good, the resolution seems so odd but I think that it still works very well. And it's clearly the best video you ever made (In my opinion).

now let's talk about VY CMa:
imo VY Canis Majoris sounds much better than the short form you used. I really like the intro on this one, those quick cuts imo worked well in the beginning and the transition from there worked well too. As opposed to seasons I didn't really like the lip sync parts I felt that it kinda seemed out of place to me. But then again I hate lip syncing in general. Overall I really enjoyed the action scenes, which make up most of the video. You did a really good job in syncing them for the most part :up: . It's sad too see that you got such a lukewarm reception from conventions.

Thanks man...I got lots of mixed feedback in the Pro review threads about the lip sync parts, but that section is one of my personal favorite parts of the video. Like most GAINAX stuff, Diebuster is over-the-top in a lot of serious ways, but there's always a goofy side as well, so I wanted to make sure I included something slightly humorous/fun just to reflect that.

P.S. Watch Gunbuster and Diebuster. Because after watching them myself I'm of the opinion that no, you can't be a GAINAX fan if you haven't seen them :P

You are insane. I don't know what else to say about that really, but I guess everyone's entitled to their own opinion...for what it's worth, that ranks as one of my absolute least-favorite of all the videos I've made up to this point.

Meh, it's all good. I can never really judge how a video will be received when I make it, and this video was kind of a rush job. I really like it which is all that matters to me, really. But thank you for taking the time to comment on here, and I definitely appreciate your feedback! Glad you (mostly) enjoyed it :up:
