Criticism and/or praise is most welcome. I am not very creative with effects, and I want to change that. So, please advise! For my next video, I am going to do more in AE.

Re: Evergreen - The Garden of Words AMV
The second half of this video was really really good. For the most part I really enjoyed the editing and storytelling in that part of the video. However, the first part of the video was lacking, IMO. I wish there weren't so many crossfades on the bass drum beats (hard cuts just help emphasize those beats so much better) and I couldn't get into the rhythm of the video. I also felt like in the first part of the video there were way too many camera zooms that were just not needed at all, and they weren't done fast enough to be seamless so they disrupted the rhythm.
The second half of the video didn't really have any of these problems, or if it did you hid them well enough that I didn't notice. It ended up feeling like pretty much every other Garden of Words video out there but it was done well enough to stack up, by and large. Good job

Thank you for your criticism! I really appreciate it. What you're saying makes sense, and I will apply it to my next project. I was struggling trying to change my editing. The first half is me trying to improve. The second half is a little of that plus more of my old style. So, basically what I'm hearing is that I shouldn't try so hard with the zooms. I just really want to make a video with more camera effects, but I need to make myself do that in AE. Your comment about bass drum beats is particularly helpful as well. I'll keep that in mind.CrackTheSky wrote:The second half of this video was really really good. For the most part I really enjoyed the editing and storytelling in that part of the video.
