Supersonic Gene (Calico Bandit)
This is my second AMV. I finished the first full draft sometime around late September 2010, but I recently went over it and fixed it to my liking for entry into the Sakura-Con AMV contest and its debut release on the org. If you have previously seen a beta or RC for the video, there will be numerous changes in this final version.
Special thanks to the numerous beta testers who helped me learn various aspects of editing, but especially my main beta testers KiTo~chan and Arashinome. Also thanks to everyone who helped me learn the technical aspects of video editing, most notably mirkosp and MisterHatt. All of your help has been greatly appreciated.
I'm interested in any constructive feedback anyone is willing to offer, and I hope everyone enjoys it!

This vid is classic AMV through and through. A great song/source combination matched with a lively concept make this a wonderfully enjoyable video.

I think this got even more awesome sitting around marinating in the dark. Top notch shit, Curt. You keep this up and you'll be a hard hitter around here in no time, my man.

Scene selection was too literal for my tastes. Other then that, overall timing and editing was good. nice job.

Re: Supersonic Gene (Calico Bandit)
I remember this
You already know what I think. Great work.
If I had to offer any advice I would say you have the opposite problem I have: I focus too much on external stuff like synch. But this video focuses too much on internal stuff, and would benefit from some external stuff like crossfades or fades in/out from black. Remember, this is a music video, so do whatever you can to help the visuals flow with the music a bit more, as long as you don't go overboard. Fades/crossfades are great for this because they can mimic an audio waveform. Or something.
Anyways, dare I say Rookie of the Year?

Re: Supersonic Gene (Calico Bandit)
Such kind words; thank you everyone! I used to watch a lot of AMVs about 8-10 years ago then didn't see many new ones in the last 5-6, and I just never edited until recently (still less than a year!?!), which probably explains why this video feels oldschool.
Phantasmagoriat: Thanks for the advice. I definitely need to work on my cuts and making scenes flow together, whether it be with fades, cropping/zooming, or anything else. That's the main thing I'm focusing on with my next video.
