Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

I notice you have a bit of green screen showing there. If you have after effects 6, the keylight filter is absolutely awesome at getting rid of all of the green screen. If not, you can fix it fairly easily by going over the edge in photoshop with a white or black brush with the overlay mode set to color.
Seriously?! I only have 5.0 and honestly don't know *everything* about it, but if this is a big difference, seems to me like a reason to upgrade. Seems like it'd make some masking pretty easy :)

Seriously. I had tried to remove green screens in AE before and it never worked well. After I got AE 6 I wanted to test out the Keylight thing to see just how good it was. I made an image where the green screen faded directly into the image. I loaded Keylight to see how well it would work, expecting it to totally fail. All I did was tell it to filter out green 255. Then I did a  as it totally removed all the green absolutely perfectly!
I believe the plugin is also available seperately for older AE versions. I can make some test images if you really wanna see for yourself.

Whoa... if I thought I was lost when people started using big words, I can't remember anymore. You people opened up with the technical stuff and my brain went 'I want a hotdog.' That was about the last thought I had for half an hour. My eyes were going over the text on the screen but I really don't remember doing it. My eyes must have decided for me that this wasn't worth sending to my brain, it'd only make things worse.

Through this all, though, I realize that I really gotta buckle down and put some mad effort into my skills if I'm ever, EVER going to get anywhere in this hobby. Whether or not you all intended it this way, thanks for boosting my resolve. You all rock. 8)

Just helping my thoughts come too, again. Helping them take a little shape. Forgive me if this sounds completely out of shape...

Zarxrax - Did you know that your avatar does a good job of jiving to the song 'Blue'? I was listening to that and watching your avatar and a little wave of happiness washed over me and I think I need to get to bed soon.

I still have some clean up work to do. Unfortunatly in some places though on the NieA DVDs there is color bleading, so even if I mask cleanly along edges, some of the BG color leaks into and beyond the character's lines. For this scene I'm going to have to trim it a little closer.

I did see a little training video clip on Adobe's site demoing the keylight filter and it looked good.

Your new project seems to be a great idea :D
You were one of the reasons why I started creating and watching AMVs, I'm happy to see you always have the will to improve and break the limits. :D
Your creativity is definitely your force.

Sure, the pictures look great.

About that going beyond the simple scenes+music concepts, it's not really what I like to see in an AMV. I love to see something made with stuff that's limited, the usage of scenes in synch to the music. Especially the synch is really important to me, if an AMV has images like yours, aluminum, but isn't in synch with the music (not saying yours isn't), it's nothing to me and I will not like it. That's what I parially disliked in your B4U video to make things a little specific.

That was just me posting my unimportant opinion :P

You explained your opinion well, I appreciate that. I can totally admit that B4U is a different style that people who like tight sync might not like. It was a style choice that made.

Recently for me I've been finding too much sync between the beat and the video to be distracting. I start predicting where the next edit will be and it feels like it takes more energy to watch. When editing if I follow the beat too much I sometimes feel like it starts pushing me down a path that is hard to break free from.

I think some people feel the energy of a video from beat to beat and others feel the energy across a larger time segment (I've become more of the latter.)

There are both kinds of editors so it's all good. I'm afriad you probably won't like my new project much then because it's influenced by things I picked up whlie doing B4U.

what

i was expecting this to be a "here's my completed video and the link" because as far as i knew, that's what this part of the forum was all about. but it's just a "i've decided to make a journal entry of my editing endeavors and show u pictures of my latest project! NEW AMVs FOR THE FUTURE"

if we're discussing some type of "new age amv" then shouldn't this go into general AMV?
