Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

The problem with the 'TV Christmas Special' idea is that you're going to make the actual 'show' part, which might be really hard to do (you're talking an ass-ton of rotoscoping and masking). I'm for the really simpler idea of just having a ton of X-Mas carols/songs and AMVing them. It just seems like your idea, while definately cool, might be a bit too ambitious to have done in time for Christmas. If I'm thinking what you're thinking, you'd also need some fan-dubbing to pull it off at all, no?

As far as more practical, not-destroying-your-idea suggestions. I'm a personal fan of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", "The Christmas Waltz", and "Grown-Up Christmas List", and would like to see these songs included. A really good cover of Carol of the Bells is 'Christmas Eve Sarajevo' by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

I also think there should be a token Hannukah song as well, but that's just the repressed jew in me talking...

Indeed, I will be needing fan-dubbing, but I also thought that the characters used as a Host, Guests and Reporters, will be south park versions of ourselves, members of the org, and that shouldn't be a problem at all to work on. Well, photshop is defenatly going to scream with pain, but hey, it will be great and very original. Besides, I always said that if you're gonna do something, you better do it the best way you can.

We'll still have Christmas Carol Medleys, and if we don't finish the Fan Dubbing, or drawing characters and whatnots, we'll stick to plan be, that is a larger version of out Carol medley. :)

To be honest, I'm trying to pln this the best way I can so it's fun for both us, which will be workin on it, and those who'll be watching it. Not keeping the same common music-mix but get everyone involved in doing his best to get a show on the road :D And if you guys are willing to risk it, and wanna do something big, then I'm up for it.

Then again, if you all think we should go low profile, and stick to the Medley only, then it's fine by me. Just wanted to make it rock more =^.^=

Christmas Eve in Sarajevo was added to the list of songs used just before I red the post ^.^ It's a magnificent songs. As for the other songs, I'll be sure to look into them as soon as possible. ^.^ Thanks :D !

Respecting other cultures and religions, I will be sure to put up a Hannukah song ^.^ I find only 1 problem though. I don't know any, what to look for, and all that. Maybe you can help me out in that?

It's not that I'm so much opposed to this idea, but I can tell you that from experience in having run a multi-editor project of my own, it's a lot of work. My biggest fear with your plan is that while the AMV Christmas Special might turn out to be incredible, you'd also be posting the announcement thread in May '05. Christmas is in 3 months, and even The Children Project, which your idea seems to eclipse in scale, took longer than that to complete.

As far as 'The Christmas Waltz', might I suggest Frank Sinatra's version? Also, I have a couple pop versions of 'Grown Up Christmas List', one by Kelly Clarkson and the other by Monica. Dunno about 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas', though.

I think that any attempt to do a Hannukah song should be intentionally half-assed (not in a poor-quality way, but in an attempt for laughs). Having performed in school choruses and bands before, I was always amused that among all the Christmas songs, there'd be the one Hannukah song thrown in just to claim that all the major holidays were getting respect. As far as an actual song, Adam Sandler's 'Hannukah Song' would be perfect, except that... well, there's almost no anime source footage I can think of that could work, and fewer editors I can think of who could pull it off.

Neat idea, though I'd only join if you used a Christmas medley (i.e. one song about 7 minutes long) and assigned everybody a part no longer than about 1 minute. Long projects are nice, but they take crazy long to finish. :?
