That's all I really have to say. Sync was appropriate, flow was dead on, emotional impact was undeniable, video quality was superb for such a low file size. Much, much, better than your overly ambitious Haibane video, in my opinion. Smooth and simple.
Thank you. I definitely agree that it's better than my Haibane video - I actually think of all my videos, this one is my favorite. I'm very happy you saw the angle I was coming from, and were able to appreciate it.

Seriously, would it be easier if I give you a list of anime I'm going to watch and you just make vids to them?
Hehe, watch Kino. Seriously. And I think you'll appreciate this video, like a lot. I'm very eager to hear what you have to say about it, especially.
Bauzi wrote:Now I´m so surprised and so excited about the new video that I don´t think that I´ll write something to night and I´m wondering if I should op this one.
Heh, I don't think this video is going to be quite your style, Bauzi. But I'm still interested to hear what you think
Esrhan wrote:As a slight reply to your earlier journal entry about Kino's Journey, the anime was by no means flawless.
Eh, that's just your opinion. I honest-to-God can't think of anything I would have changed about the anime. It made me think, it kept me entertained, it used irony in extremely clever ways, making the stories just plain fun to watch...it's my favorite anime, in my opinion it's flawless.
Minion wrote:a nice quicky video. good choice for an ending too
Thanks Minion. I'm pretty fond of the ending as well.

you did a great job.
4/5 you used scene that suit the mood perfectly.
plus..well i never thought anyone would use this song for an amv o_o
very creative =D
Thank you! The song has actually been used nine times before
-Good for Nothing- wrote:SCAN LINES!!
....Can't be removed, they're a part of the anime, and trying to get rid of them does very, very bad things to the quality, like Kio said.
-Good for Nothing- wrote:anyway, I guess it's pretty cool for such short editing time, but editing-wise, there is a lack of motion, would have been very necessary ;P
The lack of motion was something I was slightly concerned about as I was editing, but upon seeing the final product I was convinced that the pacing of the song didn't really require much motion at all. I like it the way it is
-Good for Nothing- wrote:on another note, I miss the mp4, sky |:<
Why? For the resolution, a 30 MB XviD is totally acceptable, and the quality is fine. I tried making an .mp4 version but it looked absolutely horrible, and the difference in size wasn't worth the loss in quality. I see no reason to encode an .mp4 when the XviD version is above-average quality with such a low filesize.
code_chrono wrote:I think more work, shiney lens flares (jk), and other special effects would have knocked this up.
No way. In a video put to a song like this, I can't see any way in which effects would have helped. My focus was entirely on scene selection, and I didn't want to detract from the emotion by bogging the video down with needless effects.
Shazzy wrote:I liked the song yet the vid didn't work for me. Haven't seen the anime, so what I got out of it was: young child + mom + dad + grandpa + crazy-eyed guy = family drowns in the end.
The song is divided into three verses, and during each verse a different short story is told, each depicting an instance where the main character(s) of each story are powerless to change their fate. The stories in each verse have nothing to do with each other.
Shazzy wrote:I'd complain about the scanlines, but since you only spent 2 hours editing anyway...
The scanlines are part of the anime, they can't be removed without totally fucking up the quality.
Kionon wrote:Also, I am not surprised by the reaction of most people. This style is very old school. That's what I'm about, so for me, this is what an AMV should look like. You're hearing a lot of complaints it's boring because it isn't flashy enough. I think if you added flash it would seriously detract from the overall experience. This video is a testament to KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid. It just works best that way.
Agreed on all points. I wasn't expecting a very positive reaction, because this is a very simple video and (sadly) these kinds of videos aren't given much credit these days. I'm glad at least someone sees what I was getting at
Panyy wrote:All the video had lines over it ( as if it were interlaced, but withouth movement ), dunno why
The lines are in the anime, they cannot be removed.
Thanks for all the feedback everyone!
