Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

Good even with subtitles

Post by phntmphnx » Thu Mar 08, 2007 12:26 am

It was a pretty good one. The subtitles helped to better understand the mood of the vid.
Subtitles just shouldnt take away from the image of the vid they are in.

Let me ask you this: When you watch an AMV, are you watching it to read, or are you watching it to WATCH? I haven't seen your video, and I probably won't download it, but I have yet to see an AMV where the subs actually ADD to the experience.

It's not like one becomes occupied reading the subtitles throughout, at least not in Tuevo's video or my AMV, as the subtitles appear occasionally. I don't mind the subtitles in your video, Tuevo, the anime is a bit weird (a flying cat/bus?), I wonder if the creators were high on something when they made it, but the AMV was interesting and I really liked it! Loved the happy ending.

Meh, don't be like that :P The subtitles were deliberate in order to understand what was going on. Even real artists use subtitles in their music vids to enhance a story, so for that purpose I have no problem with them.
Especially since there is no singing, so it doesn't really take away from anything, in my opinion.

For a first vid it's pretty good.

I hated the song though. Ugh. Bad bad, I say! *smacks that bad song* It should hide somewhere in shame.

But I liked the happy ending. I was all "awww". I usually don't even go aww, but now I did.

Good job! Keep up the good work! And please remove future DivX logos

*will leave an OP*
