Hmm...I have very mixed feelings about this video.
What the video does wrong:
-Way too long. And the fact that I didn't like the song made it kind of hard to sit through five minutes of it, though I think the biggest problem was that it was rather boring conceptually, and since the video essentially went nowhere from beginning to end (showing two people in love...no conflict or anything), it got kind of stale about three minutes in. If you had cut the song so that it was about that long I think it would have worked better, but five minutes where nothing really happens is kinda boring.
-Poor visual quality. Although, to your great, great credit, you cropped out the subtitles. Quality isn't a huge factor in determining how much I like a video, and this is your first one anyway, so this is a pretty minor complaint.
-A lot of the clips went on for WAY too long without any cuts. Example: 3:17-3:31. Depending on what's happening in a clip vs. what's happening in the music, most times you should keep clips under three seconds, especially in drama videos. This example was especially bad, because it was just an excrutiatingly slow pan. I found the video had this problem throughout.
-Lip flap. And lots of it. Next time make sure you either use shots where the characters aren't moving their mouths, or you cover it up with your favorite image editing program.
What the video does right:
-Even though I found the concept to be boring and overextended, it was executed pretty well - you wanted to show Renton and Eureka in love, and you succeeded. Scene selection-wise you did a pretty good job of conveying the concept.
-The custom subtitles for the song. GREAT IDEA. Usually this only works in special circumstances, but I was happy you put them in, because they helped me understand that the song fit your concept perfectly. And they weren't very distracting (at least not to me, although don't be surprised if if other people complain about them).
-The feeling of the music fit the feeling of the song very well. Which I guess I've kind of alluded to already.
So overall, I'd have to say that this is a pretty good first video, although you have a lot of areas to improve in as you make more videos. But I can tell you're willing to learn, and that's always a good thing
Sorry, I have to give this 2/5, but I expect to see good things from you in the future!
