I wish they would learn to compress too, there is very rarely a reason to have a file that big, even with dsl it takes a good while to download. I would suggest reading
this, especially
this. Avisynth and Vdubmod, beyond just giving better compression can allow for some neat effects, especially if your just working with WMM. I'm pretty sure there's a guide and maybe plugin for layers and such somewhere on the site for WMM. If I come across it again I'll send you the link.
One thing when I made that first comment on size, is that I didn't think about how long the video was. Nearly 7 minutes, and for me it didn't drag on, indeed, it seemed kinda short. Easy to listen to, a new intriguing anime I haven't seen before, it really drew me in. Considering its length, compression between time and quality was actually seemed pretty good.
Personally I found premiere to have a sloped learning curve, but not too bad, which is far more than I can say for After Effects, though that's not really intended to be your main editing program. It may be worthwhile to take a look at
this list of software.
Your own work is easy to critique, its hard to critique well.
