Embryonic Productions- "Bandage Your Soul"

Post by Poetic_Kaos » Mon Mar 21, 2005 8:11 pm

Title: “Bandage Your Soul”
Anime: Crest of the Stars, Banner of the Stars II
Artist: 8mm – Give It Up
Category: Action, Drama, Sentimental

Lots of first in this video: 1st 8mm AMV, 1st Solo usage of the Crest of the Stars series of 2005, and my first video of the New Year.

This video is very melodic. I tried to truly intertwine the sultry vocals and bass with the video and effects. It came out really well.

I think I should address this. The video is encoded in WMV, but it was not made with Windows Movie Maker, and the visual quality does not suck. It is a long story why I used WMV. To make it short everything, and I do mean almost every other codec failed to produce an image as crisp as WMV.

I downloaded this earlier (before you corrected the sound, hail RSS!), and I love it. The audio on this version is a lot clearer.

<insert semi-coherent fanboyish rant/rave here>

I think some of the effects might be overkill, but that's me. I do like the beat-flashes you did around 2:00, though.

"You can't say/cuz you're so afraid" fits the entire series very well. I can see where the concept comes from. I think. It strikes me as an expression of the romantic tension that is constant in Crest/Banner.

Now... What, exactly, are all the lyrics? I can't seem to find them with Google.

I wonder how you knew I corrected the audio. I did not announce it, unless you where the one who okayed the re-upload? That or you just downloaded it twice =].

8mm, is an underground/Indie group based in California. It is not surprising you could not find their lyrics. I Just added them to the video information page.

Thanks for the commentary.

Nope, wasn't me, I just pay attention to the New Downloads RSS feed. I did download it twice, though.

Wow, someone actually watched 2 of my videos. Personally I like this video best, the more effects I add to a video the more I seem to like it. That and I can’t get enough of the song. Thanks for the feedback, but could you tell me what effect you thought was bad?

Well the effects sepetarted from the video where all great but since I can't really say what the video wants to achieve I'd say that the "Surges of Plasma" 0:13 -1:05 (or how would you call it ?) are a bit distracting cause they keep the viewer from noticing what happens in the scenes. Most of the text effects are very trippy and altough they make the viewer focus on the lyrics they seem a little bit to large yet they look very good. And the keyboard well thats what I call a very nice effect altough it's a thing that many people use it's always nice to look at and I just like shining images (maybe thats the reason why this amv is so cool).

I needed something to keep the video moving along while the slow parts of the song played. I thought the “surges of plasma” went well with the base line. The yellow lines were synced to the cymbal. I’m not sure if anyone caught on to that. The piano keys at the end actually have a 3D element to them. I should have made it more drastic, but the camera kept on fighting me.

I left the interpretation of the video up to the viewer, one reason why I marked it as sentimental. The lyrics are not all that clear, but I felt the mood set by them was a dark one, and that was what I focused on visually.

Well since I´m going to keep this one on my hd for sure (like your haibane video ) I'm sure that it'll get a bit more clear after I watched it a few more times maybe then I'll notice all the small things you added.
