Toon Addict Productions' Post-Halloween Conventions Video Dump

Post by TnAdct1 » Mon Nov 04, 2019 12:19 am

This weekend has been a very busy ones in terms of conventions, especially those that specialize in AMV's. As such, I have quite the number of new videos to premiere over the weekend.

First, here's a video that I made for a Disney AMV panel that I hosted this past Friday at one of home cons, Anime USA. The panel was a decent success, with a good turnout and people applauding the video after its premiere.

Next up is the video that I made for AWA Expo and Youmacon. While researching Kyoto Animation titles for KyoAniNoon, I found out about this OAV and felt that I needed to do this combination. Once the anime title gets cleared on this site, I will post a local version of the video.

EDIT: Local version is up.

Finally, there's probably the most controversial entry in this year's Pro Contest at AWA. Given the content of it, I'm only posting a Direct download link to it for now, with me not sure if I'll even have this video be available locally or on Youtube.

EDIT: The video is now up on Youtube.

KyoAniNoon is one of those AMVs I really wanted to love but it just never quite came together for me as much as I was anticipating it would. Maybe I'm not familiar enough with the original source being parodied here (although the song came back to me right away, guess I've never heard the full version with flute solos in it) so I can't say how accurately or aptly the scene choices are mimicking the original Disney stuff that was on the screen during this opening thing. I did think the middle section of it was the best part, as the shots really flowed together nicely, really achieving the fun and upbeat vibe that I think you were going for. The opening and middle parts didn't do quite so much for me, but again another viewer who's more nostalgic for this might get a much different experience out of it.

I like your hamster video, don't really know what I'm seeing here but I love it when people work with really obscure stuff like this.

In terms of the most of the scene choices, the two main things that I were going for are the following:

1. While it's not paralleling the actual scenes in the opening (only the first refrain is featured in the on air version) much of the video is reflecting the song's main theme of how the various Disney Afternoon characters making preparations for the show. As such, most of the scenes are meant to depict the various KyoAni characters "preparing for the show" in their own way (be it the animators in Baja no Studio, Violet Evergarden writing the script, the Clannad and K-On cast preparing the stage, or Kyon editing the video).

2. For some of the parts where the syncing wasn't lyric or lip-sync focused, I tried to use scenes that I felt could feel like a perfect accompaniment for each other.
