I don't like this song. But I had a feeling it was your editing when I saw the video. xD The lack of effects and masks made me question it slightly though. 
The idea of using fire magic as the element in a battle instead of just having flames burst out of nowhere and burning things down without a purpose was pretty neat though.

It may be the rabid FF8 fan in me, but I really liked this video. It was simple, elegant and well edited. Very reminiscent of the FF8 opening sequence in a Slayers body. Took a while to see "fire" in action though.
Still, in the end, I loved it and will likely be keeping it after the contest is over.
