Promised Destiny - A Princess Tutu video

Post by Nekoyoukai » Tue Mar 30, 2010 9:16 am

It would appear that I'm back from the grave!! (Or at least that's how I feel anyway.) This is the first AMV I've finished in just over three years I think.
I made this for Anime Boston this year but didn't end up making the cut. *sigh* Oh well, maybe better luck next year.
This was my first attempt at masking. Not a lot but I wouldn't mind hearing how I did with it. Definitely room for improvement I personally think.
Anyways, enjoy!

This AMV was ok, but you used way too many crossfades. Prelude is an awesome song, but it almost demands that you use a bunch of hard cuts, really fast transitions and constant scene changes. The crossfades that you used really weakened the overall "intensity" of the video.

I think that this AMV is a really good example of what I'm talking about.

Going to have to disagree with kireblue. I much prefer your transitions over that video's, as well as most everything. And while I don't believe the two sources you used matched that great, that other video just... urgh. The pacing in this amv was very well done. Instead of flashes or changing clips, you used overlays or gradually increased the brightness on the beat, etc. Clip choice was, overall, pretty good.
Sometimes the chromas/masking got a liiiittle too messy. But most times it worked really well. And it's nice because you can tell what is happening at all times. The bright flashes were a little too much in my opinion. You already had enough going on, I think.
The video isn't very original, in terms of source selection. But I just really liked the pacing and transitions that were used to make the video feel "heavy."
Gj 3.5/5
