Live Action Based on Animes?

Post by KittiePink » Wed Dec 01, 2004 2:02 am

Ok, my question is this;

Are you allowed to post (without losing any priveledges) an AMV that contains live action footage of a show, based off an anime/manga?

Some good examples of this would be PGSM or Cutey Honey (Though, PGSM was based more so on the manga, than the anime, when people mention "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon" .. most directly think of the Anime more so than the manga. :/).

I know this is an AMV *ANIME* music video website, but I was curious if that was one of the "exceptions" to the rule, based on their history (anime before live action).

Thanks.

No.
But it does depend, there is an unwritten (i dunno if it is written) rule that you can have 80/20 percent live action footage. Meaning that if 80 is anime, 20 can be live action.

Though i'm fairly sure they're flexible down to 50/50 (aslong as it's affiliated with the anime to some point).

Though no.
No 100% live action videos.
Even based on an anime.

I think you're thinking of a typical con's requirements. I dunno if that applies here.

I think meriCs sailormoon video is on here.
And it's about 40/60 live action to anime. So... I'm not sure.

It is, and it's awesome.

Then there's This one, another goodie.

Both are coincidentally con winners aswell. Those are the only two I am aware of, and as you can see they do nicely.

I guess you could also count that one part in Doki Doki's "Right Now Somebody Is Reading This Title" which says "RIGHT NOW ANOTHER FAN IS BORN!" as live action, aswell as the "Right now, live action is no substitute for the real thing" with the live action Utena footage. :P

But no, pure live action is a no-no.

The guy who gave me that footage also gave me clips of live action Saint Tail (just a commercial, I think), live action Akazukin Chacha, and live action Nurse Angel Ririka SOS. eesh.
