We all hate subs in AMVs, but...
It seems the hate for subs in AMVs (unless intentional) is rivaled only by the hate of Linkin Ball Z videos. But what about subs that are written in Japanese, like these ones: Teh Subbbbs.gif (file size approx. 260K) Screencap taken from Puni Puni Poemy? Are these generally okay, or should I try to remove them?

Quite opposite, really.
You don't want subs in english since they divert eyes to read them, taking away from the video content. Japanese subs aren't as bad as that, although I still think you should remove them since they may look out of place or lazy (if they're fan inputted- maybe not if they're from the animation studio).

Well it all depends on the video. I have three versions of the Invoke Project going. (Sub-less, Subbed as Model names, characters and lyrics and Director's commentary) I mean, it's purely a matter of taste.

Newbie question...all I can get of Naruto is fansubbed stuff, I'm in Toronto so the only DVDs I can buy of Naruto are ones that are copies of copies, so if I did burn them I end up with copies of cpoies of cpoies, and if you think the quality of stuff I use now is bad...
Anyhow can I go back in an edit out the sub-titles that were put in there without leaving great big scars on the images?
Also a side question (sorry for this) but what program is good to use on a windows platform machine (XP) that's not overly complicated, that can cut up AVIs without degrading the file till erosion. I in my first 2 AMVs used Windows Movie Maker, which for an absolute newbie didn't turn out terrible. (My opinion of course
The "I'm Alone" being sung while there's a sub of Gaara saying "I'm Alone" in my three days grace video made me happy. That and the fact that in my other one when they do the final "Double Trouble Boil and..." Sasuke breaks Zaku's arms in sync with the syllobells also made me happy....)

To answer the fansub question, there's a guide on the site on how to remove them. I personally take the route of cropping + resize in VirtualDub (a freeware program easily found via Google). I've fooled a number of people into thinking I've used footage from RAWs with this method.
As for the program, I personally use Adobe Premiere 6.0, but since I can't really endorse piracy here, people do say that WMM 2.0 (which is free somewhere on Microsoft's website) is actually decent.
