what is character profile?

Never heard of the category Character Profile, waht is it?

A character profile AMV is a video focusing on one character or, in some cases, a group of characters. A good example of a character profile is MeriC and VegettoEX's "Alone in the World" and Red_Wolf's "Drops of Sailor Jupiter". ^_^

To me, a character profile is basically a video centering around one (or a few) character(s). An AMV creator making a character profile may try to express a character's feelings and emotions very vividly, or just show the everyday occurences in general of the character. So there can be all kinds of character profiles, but how you wish to express yourself in this category is all up to you.. I think that a fitting example for a character profile is Koop's Damaged Rei-mix. There are many more out there on the Org but this one just happened to cross my mind.

One thing to remember: It can be any kind of Character Profile, such as a comedy character profile to Keitaro from Goldenboy, or an action character profile to Armitage from Armitage III (e.g. Wonka's "Life On Mars").

To me, a character profile does more than just have a bunch of scenes with the character in it. It highlights key points in the character's life and/or key points in the story that highly affected the character and/or changed him/her, for better or worse. They show what makes that character who they are, not just, "OMFG, HERE'S MY FAVORITE CHARA KICKIN' MUCH ASS!!"

But those can be fun, too. All depends on how it's handled.

No, not THAT video, it fails in all aspects of the catagory of character profile.

i can agree with all the comments above, except i'm still thinking about your What Romance Entails video Flint.
I did like the video, but i don't know if it qualifies as character profile, at least not for shinji.
For Rei, i think yes.
but of course it does qualify if you go at it through the group approach, profile of shinji+rei.

To me a "Character Profile" is any video that accurately portrays a specific character in a series. Be it justice or not. And in some instances, may even redefine how the world perceives that character (those are the best.) But positive or negative it must portray his/her interaction with the rest of the characters In the series, and should at all times remain true to the series. IE: you can’t have a character profile of Megatron as dramatic hero.
