some of my better ideas come from dreams, or states where I'm half awake (either falling asleep, or editing all night), others come from "people would hate me for making this" O.o

the only thing about the whole dreaming thing, is a lot of times what i see in a dream i can't recreate in a video

Most of my ideas come from weird things the kids say. Of course, half the things they suggest, I can't do yet. I think I don't worry so much about creating an original amv. My main concern is usually "is this something different for me to try?". Of course, lately I don't even care if it's different, I'm just enjoying myself.

My ideas and video conceptuality come from novels mostly. I know that sounds weird [and Kev was like "WHAT THE FUCK" in a previous thread], but it's true. When I read novels, I create versions of the characters that are outside of their characterization or even what the novelist intended. I then connect those characters to anime characters and give said anime characters the personality of the character that I've envisioned in my mind. I then create an AMV around those characters and the environments I wanted. My Little Louise, /dance, and Angels Flying High were all designed using this system. The IC's not so much... But I like this system, and it works for me.

I also find conceptuality in music in a much similar manner, except instead of envisioning characters from books in an entirely different manner, I envision lyrics and the song's beat in a much different manner.

Usually I just listen to music, daydream/dream and stuff but frequently, ideas come to me spontaneously through random events. Sometimes I'm just walking through the park and I see something peculiar or strange and an idea spawns off that. I remember when I was on my way to a restaurant I happened to drive past a pale yellow, two storey flat. What caught my attention was on the top veranda there was a guy smoking, leaning on the railing and blankly staring into the sky like he was daydreaming. Below him was a woman around the same age doing the same thing except she wasn't smoking. The way everything was positioned; the woman, the guy, where they were, the colour of the flat, the lighting (late afternoon/early sunset tone), really gave it a dreamlike appearance. Also:

Thats amazing I loved "Eliminate, Extirpate, Asphyxiate..." so much I showed my mum (who suprisingly loves video editing), locked her in my room with the light off, windows closed and my headphones on her and when Shinji strangled Asuka my mum screamed like hell xD
