1) It's an opinion, sexist or not, I think it isn't because...J-0080 wrote:Stop being sexist, a guy can make just as good a romance video as a girl can.
2) ...I did say that guys can even do better once in a while ¬¬

It is because you make it sound as if any female has the innate ability to make a perfect romance AMV, while only some rare 1 out of 1,000,000 guy can make one just as good or slightly better than the norm.

Never once said perfect, now you're putting words in my mouth, kindly do not stretch, bend, or otherwise malleate what I said. And it is never an innate ability, like anything else, it requires practice, but women, generally speaking (thereby not applicable to all, and not excluding all men) are more emotional and empathic, and thus those that are strong AMVCs have an edge on romance vids.J-0080 wrote:It is because you make it sound as if any female has the innate ability to make a perfect romance AMV, while only some rare 1 out of 1,000,000 guy can make one just as good or slightly better than the norm.

Just because a girl is a girl does not make them more empathic or emotional (again you are stereotyping).
Can you not just leave it at anyone can make a good romance vid, regardless of gender?

Or just say that if men *don't* make them, it's because the stereotypes make it 'wimpy' for guys to make them - therefore they aren't to blame, it's the way people look at them that holds them back.J-0080 wrote:Just because a girl is a girl does not make them more empathic or emotional (again you are stereotyping).

But if you do think of sexist comments - saying men make better amvs because they hold their emotions inside and let them out in the form of art (one of the first posts here) while women cry and don't have pent up emotions to draw from - that's just as sexist. The only middle ground is saying that sexist traditions deem women as the emotional crybabies and men as the emotional timebombs - and it's up to individuals to break free of those restraints.
I find that idea funny, though. I usually hear that women are the ones who hold things inside, holding grudges for a lifetime while men lash out and then forget rather than keeping the emotions inside to fester. Maybe it's just the romance genre where the stereotypes get turned around.
Anyway, the debate is silly - men make good vids, women make good vids - there are more men making vids than there are women, so there are more good vids made by men than there are made by women. It's just the ratio of men-to-women in editing and the ratio of good-to-bad vids - the higher number of editors, the higher number of good vids from those editors. Sounds simple to me.

Yeah, it is a stereotype, I don't like stereotypes in general, but some prove themselves to actually be true. This one still persists in proving itself true IMO.J-0080 wrote:Just because a girl is a girl does not make them more empathic or emotional (again you are stereotyping).
I have acknoledged that anyone can make a good romance vid, I was just stating an opinon on which I thought did better. Just because one is better than the other never implies that the other is not good. Again, you're are putting words in my mouth. Furthermore, I didn't bring up this angle originally, I am agreeing with someone else.J-0080 wrote:Can you not just leave it at anyone can make a good romance vid, regardless of gender?
