It sounds quite cool- I hope he does put it up, all told. I think it partially has to do with the intent and the nature of it. Sometimes what works best for a video just isn't anime, as I've encountered several times lately. My 2 yen on it is that as long as the majority of someones videos are AMVs, the occasional non-AMV or non-wholly-AMV is not a problem. There are some quite amusing and good non-AMVs listed- the one Anneke mentioned sounds neat, there's Pie Row Maniac's Quahog Combat, and Aluminum Studios' DDR1, not to mention numerous instances of short clips in things like the DDR project tracks.

And if n e 1 says otherwise i hav a billion reasons why its ok to have game amvs, the main one being that most games that people use for amvs have anime/anime looking characters. (best examples are FF and xenosagas <---- quite possibly one of the best gams ever!)
that came off as if i was forcing them on ppl.
so let me rephrase that, im not sayin you hav to like game amvs just dun get mad at ppl for uploading em'
this isn't ffmv.org though its animemusicvideos.org

keep all non-anime musiv video's off of the server
im sry el farlo but u seemto be quite......ya, but that's besides the point. i don't think u understand wut im saying do u? if u've ever played a video game in your life besides pong, u'd be well aware of the fact that most games have anime/anime-looking characters, especally if u've played n e ff games, xenogears, kingdom hearts, or almost any other RPG. but even if u are a pong fanatic and thats all you have or ever will play, i even said, "most games that people use for amvs have anime/anime-looking characters" and even if u missed it there' ive typed it again for u. so next time u get into a debate or disscussion about n e thing! i suggest u read what other people write and take that into consideration, instead of just typing wut u think is right and telling people whith other oppinions that they're wrong. I agree that ppl making tons of "non-anime" amv's and uploading them is wrong, but ppl should be alowed to share some of their work. if ppl want to make all "non anime" amv's, that's their bisnuess, but as long as they only send in ones they think are sum of their best work, it's fine by me :P
Thank you. :)

btw, thanx BishounenStalker for that very technical outlook on ff amv's

Let people do what they want, if I like it I like it, if they like it they like it, simple as that.
The best effects are the ones you don't notice.

Besides, there's no othe music video site out there (At least what I know of) that lets you catalog videos the way this place does.

I say, catalouge anything short of 100% live action film. As far as the server goes.....It's really meant for AMV's. Things like FFMV's are really pretty derivative of anime and the CG work is very similar to other anime's that are out, so things like that are OK in my book.
And would I be correct in assuming English is a second or third language for you Tidus_F_F_X?

I geuss, for something I would consider a big nono (uses both live action, and isn't actually edited from the originall source) refer to _Key_ who has Little Wing vs California up for LOCAL downloads.
After seeing that, I figured downloading any of his other vids would be a waste of my bandwidth.

And BishounenStalker...Anime != Japanese animation
It's a style, even a genre. Just because the style originated in Japan does not mean it is Japanese animation. There is Japanese animation that looks nothing like what would be called anime, and there are many animations which are not Japanese that could easilly be called anime.

That's what I always thought anime stood for. Animation produced in Japan. There was a huge thread on this a while back when people were asking about favorite non-anime cartoons. I guess the definition of anime has changed a lot. Because I remember people touting "Gargoyles" and "Thundercats" as anime because the animation actually was produced in Japan.

I'm going by the definition of it being Japanese animation. If the names in the credits are Japanese, I consider it anime. But I guess that's just me.

I would just like to see a final verdict officially handed down on the site. If they're going to continue badmouthing non-anime videos, I would rather they police that and strip them all off the database than continue this set of mixed messages - "Oh, you're all scummy little morons who suck donkey balls, but we aren't going to do anything about it."

That, and asking if we've listed "all" our videos on the database is rather confusing when this point is not clarified.

I've made game videos, but I didn't know when I put them up that this site so hated them, since I'd seen so many up already. If I could, I would take them down. I don't enjoy being treated like a leper for not knowing any better.

NOTE: All of this pertains to the database. There are no non-anime videos on the server, so that is a nonissue.

_Key_
Yes, there are.

And where do you get off claiming such a horrid attitude being expressed towards anything that isn't an AMV? The worst I've seen is "Hey, this is a-m-v.org not FFMV or VGMV."

Treated like a leper and
"Oh, you're all scummy little morons who suck donkey balls, but we aren't going to do anything about it."
my foot.

Yes. "This is AMV, not VGMV" means that we're not welcome, you know. ;) Which is why I'd rather they make up their minds and either purge the database or let it go as a sort of tangent/offshoot of AMVs.

I'm sorry. I didn't know any better. However, people who crap out 15 Linkinball Z videos in a row are considered "legitimate", but people who make a video with the wrong source are not. Both are newbie mistakes. This irritates me. I can't help that.
