I'm working on redoing two of my previous videos, but I just finished another and I am ready for a break.

I've already made 2 new AMVs for the 2003 year. But I don't have any hosting right now. To be honest, I have big doubts about Golden Donut not to the mention the rules about it.

Simple Editing? Nothing is simple editing (unless your half-assing on purpose). Asuka's last Stand is simple editing MJ. But your Newer videos like Windy and Grave of the Fireflies video are not simple. If anythign they have alot of thought behind them.

Another pointless argument solved! :D

Well, maybe not.... :D

Heh, I started a new video just today after finishing my segment for the JSR project. Indeed, it's very nice to to go back to simple editing.

By simple editing, you mean just knowing how to use the simple tools, cutting, fading, and speed as opposed to the more graphical ones such as clippings, flash strobing, and inverted/bleeding colors. Or the simple planning "This looks good with that" as opposed to the more selective planning "This flows better with the overall song and its surrounding scenes"? I thought you were refering to the former, which I do find easier to edit, and funner, but selective planning can take awhile.

Anyway, I agree that most people will be holding out for Cons before premiereing there AMV's online especially if they are planning to attend the Con. I mean its such a rush to see your work on the big screen in front of many other people who haven't seen it before, instead of a small screen which may or may not play the vid depending on codec types. It also gives the Con that Moviegoer feel to it, where you look at those voting tabs and see a creator you like with a new AMV that they'd been mentioning for awhile and your like, sweet. To see it before the Con would be like watching a downloaded upcoming movie before its out, although some would perfer to watch it first on the small screen instead of the large.
Although I know not everyone can make it to a Con, or afford to, to see these premiere's and in a way that is disappointing, but if you were thinking about going to a Con just because of something like that then you know the feeling. I think that this is something that Con's strive for anyway, as it helps them grow and lets us strech our creativity in something we love to do.. or just enjoy doing.
Not that I'm for withholding premiereing AMVs, I'll probably not wait till Acen2003 to release my next, although thats still up in the air (Since I'm going to be attending for sure). I'm just saying that it has more of an effect on people, especially if your well known (Not necessarily popular).
Anyway, those are my thoughts.

I believe that Animemusicvideos.org is in an AMV recession. No videos are being produced has of late because of all the multi-editor Projects going around. :o Blasphemy!

Just go to the search and check out the new videos, man. I'm up there. Of course, you're right about the special effects thing. I usually use simple editing but lately the songs I've been using needed stuff like flipping and inversion. . . Of course the org is in a depression of sorts, but that's because the economy is. AMVs need money. Espiecially if you don't have any DVD resources and refuse/can't download stuff. Therefore. . .Slump.

But there's alway's this.

AMVs, like all art, repeat themselves :P

The big thing right now is flashy effects, faster cuts, high energy songs, and tons of frill. I can't wait till the back to basics trend rolls around, and in my latest video that I'm working on, I'm trying hard to spark that trend ;P
