Whiny bitching about the top 10%

The dance results are nothing compared to the 17 horror results, or only 80 vids for a huge category like comedy. If there were only 800 comedy vids with 10+ ops, it might make sense to list only the top 80 in the top 10 % list. It's not the number of ops making those lists small - it's the 9.0 cutoff.

Cutting all the lists off at the 9.0 mark took a stagnant list and made it smaller and even more stationary. I still don't see the need for that. Only one person complained that the lists shouldn't go below 9.0 - one complaint and everything changes? Since when? And the top ten description is still claiming to use 10 or more ops as only the necessary qualifier. It should read 10+ ops and a 9+ score.

But, hey, maybe it'll encourage people to make more videos for those unreasonably small categories. We only have 80 really popular comedy vids on this site. That's just sad. It's a clear sign for people to write more ops and make more vids for those neglected areas. The site's too big to have so few worthy vids.

And it's not even a pure 9+ score, but one that is curved ... meaning if you are getting real ops, you have to have far more than 10 ops to get to a 9+ ......

There's some sort of cut-off if you use the 'genre' categories, and it carries on to the 'specific score' sorting for those categories. Ex: No matter what you sort Horror by (originality, effects, review, etc), you only get 17 videos. As far as I can tell the 'sort by specific score' options are just resorting the same videos that fit above the 9.0 cut-off in the original list for that category. Still 17 horror vids, still 80 comedy vids. The same 17 and the same 80? It looks that way. The order changes according to the 'score filter' you pick, but it's still only counting the vids above that original 9.0 cutoff.

If you do the same searches by time, you get scores below 9.0 If there's not supposed to be a 9.0 cutoff, then the main category lists are messed up.

Exactly. That's what i've been saying. There's 2 standards for some reason. Anyone who programmed the scripts want to chime in as to why? Maybe change it...

So I'm poking around looking for good videos and I realize the top 10% sucks royally. Odd. I hadn't realized the 9.0 cut off thing. Which, given the weighted scores, really does mean a video would need more than 10 ops to get listed (assuming scores are real instead of all 10s). Well that explains the large lack of videos, especially newer ones, in the catagories.

yeah... I hated la la la (mostly cuz Ileia does SO much better vids), didn't see beyond the rhythm (which, ironicaly, was the problem with lalala ;p), saw nothing special about Ayumix, I mean it's great... but look at who made it! Spirit sucks just cuz Eurobeat is SO much better. In fact so is Pincess Maker and Life is Futakoi!

All of these suck cuz of what the creator (creators...) did before it! It's kinda' funny, but you fail, Godix
