Well, at least it's not a Mazda. I can't stand those commercials anymore, the song's just too damn annoying.

I've only ever used one studio bumper that was set to a song (and by "studio bumper" I mean "no credits included"), and I just picked it because I really like the music and it went okay with what I had planned for the visuals.

I used to use one and I've gone through two actually.

One started with Penpen (greatest mascot ever) on my logo with the "wark" of his. However I dumped it later on because I just got tired of it.

My second one, "Lazy Intro" is more of a joke because I'm bad at making CG graphics so I used the Song of Storms from Ocarina of Time which sounds insane enough to fit the opening. However I have yet to put this in any of my videos.

Guess you clicked the link of Guide to how NOT to behave in the ORG.
Don't think I'll use music in my intros when doing AMV, well maybe.

I havn't realy used music in a stdio bumper yet, but I have used sounds. In AR I used a starting snip from a OCRemix song to do the ar bumper that sounds something like the THX sound lucas arts use for their bumper. It fit the video. I tend to agree that if it throws off the mood of the actual AMV, don;t use it. Wich Is why I came up with a diferent bumper/ sound setup for "Accidental love story" since my old one would have thrown it off.

So to answer your question, most times I do it either to make it more profesional, or just for fun, and I change it according to the actual AMV. I also don't always use spounds/music depending on the kind of bumper and video it is.

None of my current videos' bumpers have music. However, I'm working on a couple of videos, both of which will have bumpers accompanied by music. The first because it's a remake and the improved audio source I am using is about 5 seconds longer at the beginning then the old one. So I'm using the bumper to fill that space so the rest of the sync is not thrown off. The other video will hopefully be sporting an short animated bumper and some music should contribute nicely to the visual.

As I've said before, the outro to Imagine totally ruins the mood. Change it. :? Now.

Whenever I used music in my bumpers (which were also the credits at the beginning of the vid), I was still using VirtualDub to edit with, and not only are most of those videos crap, but the music in the bumper is even more hit-and-miss. I stopped putting a music-intro and long-winded credits at the beginning of my vids when I switched to Premiere (except for one remaster I did, but meh) over a year ago.

I did use a sound clip from South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut in the end credits for my latest video, and really the only reason was that I thought it was funny to make Shinobu say something like that . It's probably a good thing that it's there, though, considering the trailer it's attached to isn't all that funny.

Actually, I've avoided bumpers, and hardly even used basic titles, as far as I can remember.

My own ideal bumper music would be part of the music track that I'm using for the AMV - say, if it happens to have a long intro-outro, it might be a reasonable idea for me to stick some fancy bumper there.

Still, in most cases, I avoid them. Unless they're very neutral, I think bumpers can be a distraction. A good bumper at the end should try to compliment the video somehow. A good bumper at the beginning should ideally be 'Asswind' - a neutral way to clear up the viewer's mind in preparation for the video itself.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…
